The Formation of the Tierrasanta Science Club

We are hoping to form a science club for a group of 10 or 15 of our kids here in Tierrasanta.  We want to take advantage of all the great science opportunities in San Diego, as well as the knowledge and enthusiasm of a great group of parents.  Our plan is to have monthly meetings, where the kids will learn about science topics through hands-on activities like dissections and building models and kits.  We also want to sign up as a group for programs at local museums, make contact with scientists at universities and companies to take tours or get demonstrations, and go on outings such as star-gazing and rock hunting expeditions.  We are still very much in the planning stage, but would like to have things up and running in the fall.

After we have established our group, we will use this blog as a place to write about what we have done and what we have learned.  Maybe even have little reports on the history of science, something along the lines of “Scientist of the Month”, with a quick description of what different people like Einstein, Farraday, Darwin, Gallileo, Ventner, Salk, and Hubble are famous for.
