Tim Daisy is a Chicago-based drummer, composer, and educator renowned for his contributions to both improvised and composed music. Since landing in Chicago in 1997, he has actively engaged with the city’s vibrant creative music scene, performing, recording, and touring with numerous esteemed musicians and ensembles.
His collaborations include a diverse array of both local and international artists, including Ken Vandermark, Jeb Bishop, Fred Lonberg-Holm, James Falzone, Dave Rempis, Steve Swell, Jamie Branch, John Tchicai, Russ Johnson, Mars Williams, Joe McPhee, Katherine Young, Havard Wiik, Michael Zerang, Frank Rosaly, and many others. He was a member of the Vandermark 5 from 2002 until 2010.
In 2011, he founded Relay Records, an artist-run label that documents much of his creative work both locally and internationally. Beyond performance and recording, Daisy has composed original pieces for modern dance, sound installations, documentary films, and podcasts, showcasing his versatility as an artist.
His discography includes collaborations with international artists such as Mikołaj Trzaska, Per Åke Holmlander, and Aram Shelton. Daisy’s innovative approach to composition and performance continues to influence and enrich the contemporary music landscape.
