Happy New Year's Eve!

Hey all, I know I haven't blogged since Christmas but just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year!

I will post the goals I hope to achieve in 2009 in the very near future!

Have a wonderful time everyone!

Happy Boxing Day!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas Day! I had a lovely day, the morning spent with my OH, and then headed off to my dad's to have Christmas dinner with him and my sister, and Molly came along too! She loved her Christmas dinner!

I ate way too much yesterday and when I got home last night, ate even more, while drinking Bailey's, with a touch of creme caramel! Needless to say, I ended up with severe heartburn and by 3.30am I was sick! Serves me right for eating so much!!

Got lots of lovely presents too, which I am very thankful for! I am more thankful for my family though, but it's around this time, I miss my mum that much more, if it's possible to miss her more than I already do.

Here is a pic of Molly with her Santa hat on ................ I don't think she was very amused! She's cute though!!

Today was a very very lazy day, in fact if I didn't have to walk the dog, I'm sure I would have had my PJ's on all day! I'm just glad WW class isn't back until 5 January!! Can you believe it's almost 2009!??!!! I hope to make 2009 the best year yet!

This pic taken in Kissimmee Lanes, Florida in 2003 is my inspiration and goal for 2009! This is what I want to get back to.....

except even fitter with sleek muscles....... maybe like Jenny Lynn - she's awesome!

Red Ruby Slippers!

It's been like forever since I last blogged! I kept meaning to post, but got caught up reading everyone else's blogs.

So last Monday I lost 1 pound at WW class. But since then I had my office Christmas party, which was really good, even though I was dreading it the whole time in case it was a flop, since I was the one that had organised it! The dinner was really nice, I actually tried to keep to the more sensible choices on the menu. I had vegetable soup to start (yummy!), then for main course I had rib eye of Scotch beef ( no sauce!) with mashed potato and veggies and dessert was a gorgeous chocolate mousse in the cutest tiny dish you have ever seen! I wish I had taken my camera for some pics! Then we all danced for the rest of the night, until midnight when we nearly turned into pumpkins! Unfortunately most of us were working the next day :( These are the shoes I bought for the night............ god knows how I managed to dance in them! I sure as hell couldn't walk, but dancing was okay!

Aren't those shoes gorgeous!! They remind me of Dorothy's ruby slippers in the Wizard of Oz - one of my fave films! I love, love, love them! Just need to practice walking in them! Not used to 5" heels!

So tonight's weigh in at WW was not so good. I put on half a pound. Which is actually better than I thought it was going to be. I was sure it was at least 2 or 3 pounds! I so want to get to 180 pounds, and keep hovering around 183 - 184....... it's only a few pounds so why is it so hard???

Thanks to you all for your kind and motivating comments on my last post...... it keeps me going when I feel like giving up completely!

Grrrr!

I hate diets, food, exercise, everything!! I put on another half pound at WW tonight. Well, not really surprising, since I was only on plan like 20% of the time! Why is it so hard to not eat crap?? I don't even like eating high calorie, "bad for you" stuff and immediately regret it afterwards, and then start telling myself that I will be good from now on! Blah! Our office Christmas party is a week on Wednesday, and I am totally dreading it because I will feel like a big fat failure. I could've been a size or two smaller if I had been on plan since I organized the Christmas night back in September!

Just having an off night and needed to vent.......... tomorrow will be a better day and another chance for a fresh start :)

Discover

I hadn't realised it was so long since my last post!! Time is flying by so quick - need it to slow d o w n!

Anyway, haven't had a very good week, weighed in at WW class and had put on 1.5lbs - which is better than I had thought because I hadn't been very good for the few days running up to weigh in day. I was excited to go to the class, despite the fact I knew I had put on weight. We were given a new plan! It's called Discover, and basically it's a plan that encourages you to eat more filling foods so you get more bang for your point! We got a cool folder with recipes, advice on goal setting and exercising. I haven't done much exercising the last couple of weeks. Usually I walk for over an hour a day, on my lunch break and out with Molly, but the temperature dropped here, the pavements and roads have been VERY icy and dangerous and hadn't been gritted. In fact, OH, fell down a flight of stairs - he's a Postman, and slipped on black ice at the top of a flight of stairs, and was off work for a few days - poor soul! Luckily, he didn't break anything, just hurt his leg and ankle pretty bad, but no serious injuries.

Haven't been up to much other than my usual Saturday outing with my Dad! Yesterday was such a gorgeous day, and although it was chilly, it was a bit warmer out in the sun! I will post pics below!

Took Molly to the park this morning, was lovely with the frost and the pond had frozen over too... I just wish I had taken my camera to capture it. It was like a winter wonderland! Now Molly is very tired and lying up beside me curled up in a ball and sleeping! So cute!

I was thinking of joining a gym again. The gym we were thinking of is fabulous! It has a climbing wall, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts and cardio machines linked up to satellite TV! The free weight section is pretty good too, plenty of space and benches.

Here are some pics from Saturday....

Silver Seven!

Well yesterday I went back to my Weight Watchers class and lost another 2lbs, which meant I got my first silver 7, which is a sticker they put on your card to indicate your first 7 pounds lost! I was soooo pleased, funny how a little sticker can make you happy! I'm sure my half hour on the Wii Fit on Sunday helped too! I unlocked "Free Step" and basically stepped up and down on the Wii Fit board for 20 mins! You can even turn over to a TV channel, because the sound to keep you stepping in time comes through the Wii remote! I only figured that out after 15 mins! Duh!

My next mini goal is to get a total of 10lbs lost......just takin' it a step at a time!

My exercise at the moment is basically just walking and the Wii Fit. I go walking with colleague at lunch time for about 30 to 40 mins and then about 30 to 40 mins walking my dog when I get in from work - I will eventually get back to lifting weights and the exercise bike, which we have at home, but right now that room is such a mess with stuff we have to throw out!

I better go clean up the kitchen and get my meals organized for tomorrow! Before I go, here is a photograph of Glasgow at night!

The bridge is fondly known here in Glasgow as the "Squinty" bridge! But it's my photography that's squint here! lol Excuse the blurriness, I didn't have a tripod :(

The Weekend!

Well we had a great weekend, and I didn't go overboard on food and sweets either like I used to do at the weekends. I stuck to my points more or less on Saturday, may have gone over slightly but I had some saved from during the week, so I didn't feel like i was cheating!

Had a great Saturday again out with my dad. We went to Helensburgh again, the weather wasn't too bad, just quite cold! We were supposed to have snow on Saturday night, but alas it didn't come to anything :( Here are some pics from Saturday!

Just as the sun was about to disappear!

And this was the gorgeous cappuccino I had at the Terrace Coffee House!

Helensburgh Monument.

Tomorrow is weigh in day at Weight Watchers. I missed last week because of a migraine, I can't miss it again! I pay for a monthly pass and if I don't go then I'm just wasting money.

Time to sign off for now...before I go, here is another pic of my wee baby!

A great result!

I was supposed to go to WW class tonight but after getting a migraine at work, I had to go to bed instead for an hour or so. Weighed in at home though, my scales are pretty much the same as WW, and I was down to 185.5!!! Yay, 5lb off! I am sooo pleased. It has given me the incentive to keep going. I may go to a different class on Wednesday just to get my weight marked on my "official" card, and who knows it might be even less by then if I'm careful from now til Wednesday.

My next mini goal will be 180!

Relaxing Sunday

I had quite a nice relaxing Sunday this week. Though woke up with a quite a bad headache this morning, my 40 minute walk with Molly my Jack Russell soon blew away the cobwebs. She loves to play in the leaves and when they are blowing in the wind she goes mad trying to catch them all! Here is a picture of my wee baby!

My diet was really quite good today!

Breakfast: 30g Porridge Oats with splenda
Lunch: Activia Seriously Creamy Yogurt
Dinner: Sweet Pork with 50g brown rice (recipe from The Longest Road blog! very yummy!
Snacks: 2 Packs of WW Oat Digestives
WW Cheese Puffs snack
Half a banana mashed with teaspoon of PB with 2 slices wholewheat bread.

All in all I had 18.5 points today. Weigh in is tomorrow!!! Hope it goes well!!

Helensburgh and Toasted Sandwiches

The sun was shining today, for a change, although there were a couple of showers. My dad and I went to Helensburgh and had a lovely lunch in the Terrace Coffee Shop....I think that's what it was called! We both had cheese and tomato toasted sandwiches (brown bread) with salad. I had a cappuccino with mine and it was yummy!

My diet wasn't too bad today. Breakfast was So Easy Oats with semi skim milk, lunch was cheese and tomato toasted sandwiches, dinner was a tortilla wrap with half a banana and peanut butter spread on it! An idea I saw on one of the blogs I read regularly, but can't remember which one! However, my snacks weren't so good - 10 chelsea whopper sticks, small bag of chocolate beans, half a banana, small bag of mallows - this isn't too bad for me though!

Will be extra vigilant tomorrow as weigh in at WW is on Monday! I want to lose at least 3 pounds!

Have a nice Sunday! :-)

Back in the Class!

I went back to Weight Watchers on Monday night after a 4 week hiatus. I had had a bad cold that developed into a chest infection, and could hardly breathe - it was quite scary and I decided that if my weight hadn't got so out of control, this would never have happened. Well, as my chest infection was clearing, I did something to my back when I was coughing hard and it felt like my ribs had snapped! I could hardly walk or move! Oh the joys of that. Anyhoo, after all that, went back to WW and was a pound heavier than my original start weight. I suppose even when I am being bad, at least I was out walking the dog an hour and a half a day and when I hurt my back I couldn't do that. I don't know why my mind is so screwed up with this weight issue. The first time I did WW in 2002, I was totally focussed and lost every single week, without fail! I got my gold membership after 11 weeks and held onto that for 3 1/2 years! What is wrong with my brain?? I can't stop thinking about food, and keep eating things that I shouldn't, thinking I'm missing out and it's not fair!

We never did go to the Hard Rock Cafe on Sunday, the weather was terrible and it was too far to drive to, so we went to TGI Friday's instead - it was yummy, and I didn't have dessert!

WW Weight - Monday 10 November 2008 - 190.5lbs :-(

Saturday Lunch

Today I weighed myself and I was down by 1.6 pounds!! Woohoo.....I know it's only water weight, but I'll take it!

I forgot to mention yesterday what weight loss plan I was following. I am doing Weight Watchers points, as I find it easy to follow and it means I won't feel deprived. I lost 28 pounds with WW in 2002, when my highest weight was 148.5lbs......... and oh how I wish I was at that weight again! I kept my weight off for 3 years, then I got extremely complacent and thought I could eat anything I wanted and it just crept on a half pound or so a week, then I'd go on a diet again, then lose it, then put it on again.

I was out with my dad today, just browsing some local shops and had lunch. I had a bacon roll, which was just full of grease! Yuck! Had to soak some of the fat with napkins, and even then it was so greasy tasting.

Tomorrow me and my man will be going to the Hard Rock Cafe, for his belated birthday meal, and while I won't be restricting what I have there (HRC onion rings are the best!), I will be sensible before and after!

A new blog, a fresh start

This blog, will  hopefully become a place where I will regularly update what's going on in my life while trying to lose weight and get fit.  I have had other blogs before, but never seemed to be able to keep them going.  This time I want to make that commitment to keeping this thing going, no matter how little or how much I have to say!  There are so many great bloggers out there, and to follow in their footsteps would be great :-)

So here goes....... since this is mainly about my health and trying to lose 60 pounds, I will post my stats below.......eeeek!

According to Tanita scale.... Measurements:
Weight: 187.6lbs                   Waist:  37inch
Body fat: 45.4%                        Hips:  48inch
Lean Mass: 97.4lbs

Yikes, those are scary numbers.  They can only go down from here!!

Here is a before pic.......
