Majority of the time I feel sorry. Sorry for inconveniencing people with my reminders, my chats, my whinings, even my monologues. Almost feel sorry for existing, but I suppose I don’t feel like that amongst strangers, because they don’t have to actually deal with me, you know…

Lens-Artists Challenge #332 – Shoot From Above

After a long time away, please allow me to join this one prompt from Ritva, because I have just the one fitting photo from my recent morning walk~

2025.01.19

Every Sunday morning, in the heart of the city, a 5km section of road is dedicated for the weekly car free day event. Large amount of people took advantage of this to do sport and culinary adventures.

These people I took photo of are photographers. They took photos of the moving “athletes” below from the pedestrian bridge. I took photo of them from the same bridge, but one level above them. It seems interesting to make photographers—people who are usually behind the camera—as my object.

One of them were so energetic and in a loud clear voice he kept calling out greetings like, “Pagi!” (“Morning!”) to the exercising people below, to get their attention and get their perfect snapshots.

Time is.

It’s been more than three months since I last said I wanted to write more, and here we are already in 2025. Unexpectedly, in this new place (a temporary one?), even with different kind of activities I still find it hard to manage my free time. I’m definitely more relaxed, I have Saturdays off now, but somehow everyday is still so tiring hahaha. I’m sleeping well and stress level is definitely manageable, though, so it’s still a win.

For the first time in forever, I got days off from Christmas up to the 5th of January because the office was closed for the holiday. In my previous place, I had to apply for paid leave to be able to enjoy end of year with family. So, I have a lot of days off at the end of last year, but also a lot of home works from Sensei, and the rest of my time were spent with family (and friends at the end of the holiday).

Excuses, excuses.

I suppose writing is not yet in my top priorities list. Instead I want to spare more time to read books! Especially books I’ve bought but yet to read.

….actually when I opened the tab to write this post, I was on the verge of writing some very long PMS-induced melancholic post, but just now decided not to. I did come to a realization of some interpersonal stances that made me a bit sad every time I think of it, but I’ve also learned to accept it. The key, is to lower your expectation.

I am still excited for what’s to come. When things are settled and more certain, I will write about it. Wish me luck!

Happy New Year!

Been A Long While…

Hi, everyone! I’m alive!

I didn’t exactly remember how things went down but I was simply swamped. with. works. I remember wanting to write and open up a new draft post only to leave it to do some more urgent stuff, and it kept repeating forever until I just completely gave up opening WordPress at all. So Sad.

Pretty sure I missed out on countless Lens-Artists Challenges and posts! I miss talking and reading to everyone’s posts here! (Cries).

Anyway life update! I’ve resigned from my current job (FINALLY). I have one more week left in this place before I have to head out to another city and start anew! I gave a two-months notice and things have been even more hectic than before because on top of everything, I had to transfer everything to two new personnel. I could write a whole essay (of complaints) if I start writing about this, so I better stop.

I finished packing last night (I packed everything except some light stuff for the rest of my week here), so I finally can enjoy a little bit of freedom today. It’s my last Sunday in this city, in this lovely island, Bali. I’m gonna miss you, Bali! But! Cheers to a (hopefully) more balanced life in the new place and also more TIME to sit and WRITE! Gosh, how I miss this!

Here’s a shot of today’s sunset on a paddy field nearby my area (because the road to the beaches were dark red on google maps and I don’t want to waste time in the middle of traffic):

Lens-Artists Challenge #290 – Circular Wonders

Ann-Christine led the week with Circular Wonders in this lovely post:

As soon as I read the post I kept thinking about the domes in the Islamic Art Museum Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, which I wrote about in my older post. Here are some photos re-edited:

Still in Kuala Lumpur, from Sri Maha Mariamman Temple:

And, of course, sunset and sunrise! I picked a few lucky shots when the Sun wasn’t too covered by clouds:

Seoul Square and More Shapes :)

As today (Monday) coincides with Nyepi (Balinese Day of Silence), I got a day off from work and enjoying my break (doing nothing) to the fullest. So here I am able to blog two days in a row! Hahaha!

As there were comments of seeing the color version of my previous black and white photo over here, I thought why not post about the whole sequence of adventure that day?

View of Seoul Square from Seoullo 7017.

It was November 1st, 2023, my last day in Seoul. My friend and I planned a last meetup dinner after her work and before I left for the airport. She recommended a place called Bongchu Jjimdak, in Seoul Square. The building was strategic as I was going to take the airport train from Seoul Station and there was underground passage straight to the station and all.

Lens-Artists Challenge #289 – Tools of Photo Composition

For this challenge, John mentioned to focus on these four: Shape, Form, Texture, and Light. Check out John’s original post here:

2023.11.01 Inside Seoul Square (in front of Seoul Station)

First photo’s focus is Shape. These flat humanoid shapes were installed at a little distance in front of one wall, creating a crowd of them along with the reflections on the ceiling and on the shiny floor. The installation is actually very colorful, but I made it black and white to focus on the shape.

Lens-Artists Challenge #288 – Window Shopping

Lens-Artists Challenge #288 – Window Shopping

For #288 Ritva led the challenge with “Window Shopping”. Somehow it wasn’t something I took photos of consciously, so after digging through some years of gallery, I found a few photos, although most of them were showcasing their goods in front of the shop instead of from behind the window.

2017.03.25 A character shop in Miyajima Shopping Street

First photo I took because this shop in Miyajima Omotesando Shopping Street sold some of my favorite Ghibli characters. This frontmost creature here (also the smaller ones behind) is called “Totoro” from the animation My Neighbor Totoro. It’s name is the first half of my blog address “totoryan”.
