Cove Fort and Freemont Indian State Park
My sweet boys. May 2016.
What do you do when your mom and dad move to an entirely different state and are now over six hours away? The only thing there is to do. Start your blog back up. I thought this could be a great way to let them watch the kids grow day by day in between their visits back to Utah.
Our lives are wonderfully crazy. We are busy as can be, but loving every second.
Porter recently ran for Sophomore office at Roy High and was elected. He’s thrilled to be staying in student government as he enters high school. He also won the prestigious leadership award again at the junior high. Making him a two-time recipient (only the second the person to ever do that) and the only person to ever earn it in 7th grade. He is getting excited to start driving and will get his learners permit this summer.
Dallin is loving Cub Scouts. He recently earned is Wolf badge and took first place in the Pinewood Derby. He is excited to be done with school for the summer and is developing some mad soccer skills.
Hyrum is finishing up first grade. He loves the field trips, especially if I can go with him. We visited Hogle Zoo last month and he was enthralled by the sea otters and the polar bear. But his favorite part was riding the merry-go-round. He is also finishing up his first season of soccer. He’s not super fast or skilled, but he looks good in his uniform!
Life at the Farley house is never dull. I love these crazy boys of mine and am so happy to be their mom. I wouldn’t change a thing. Except maybe bringing Grandma and Grandpa back. We love you. We miss you.

We have been working all summer getting the dog run ready so that Banner can have an area in which he can run around freely. We had to do some serious weeding, then lower the outside perimeter by about six inches so we could lay down chicken wire to keep him from digging out. We covered it back up and seeded the area with grass. It was a huge project that Jared mostly did on his own. But Hyrum was always a willing helper. He would put on his snow gloves and grab a shovel. That boy loves to dig. Hope Banner appreciates all their hard work!
Pumpkin carving this year was a blast! The boys were so much help scooping and carving, despite the grimaces and grossed-out faces. They had a great time picking out their patterns and seeing them come to life. They turned out amazing!
Hyrum wasn’t thrilled about the gooey pumpkin guts, but didn’t give up and created a spooky one-eyed monster.
Dallin was a trooper. His pumpkin was huge and he scooped and scooped then carved The Flash logo into his tall pumpkin.
My hilarious, hunky hubby thought it would be ironic to carve a jack-o-lantern into his jack-o-lantern. I adore him.
Porter carved an amazing Batman! His pumpkin looked amazing glowing in the darkness. This is the pose he made when I told him to look like he was having fun.
They looked so good on our porch! We had a happy, happy Halloween.
We took a trip to the Ogden Dinosaur Park this year during their Creepy Carnivore Carnival. We played games, made slime, won prizes, visited the museum, drank hot chocolate, tried three kinds of pie, and walked through the spooky woods lit by Halloween lights and filled with huge dinosaurs. I think we may have started a new tradition.
A lot has changed since the last time we visited Black Island Farms, but not Hyrum’s love for pumpkins, hay slides, and cow trains. He still loved visiting the local farm with his first grade class and I was so glad I got to go with him. We had a great time picking out pumpkins, riding the tractor, and eating lunch together.
