#59

Nothing but a big L-O-V-E for my mother who is celebrating her 59th Birthday today. God knows how grateful I am for having her as my Mother. Through the years shes been trying so hard to provide us our basic needs.
Shes is getting older. 😭 How I wish I am there with the whole fambam to celebrate her special day but I guess they do understand. I am here in the other side of the world looking for kwarta πŸ˜‚
I pray that God will always Bless her with the good health and happiness that she needs…and a lot of patience dealing with Tatay πŸ˜‚.

Happy Birthday Nanay. Cheers to the 59 wonderful and extraordinary life you have. More birthdays to come. I will always love you no matter what. 🎈

ο»ΏBrazilian Gigolo? πŸ˜‚

I enjoyed much with Sir Mariano, one of our pilots during our transit in Amazon River who is already on its 20th year as Pilot. He lives in Belem, one of the biggest city in Brazil πŸ‡§πŸ‡·.

He is 65. Grey hairs can tell but what amazed me is his humor and his youthful perspective in life. He always wear a smile and cracks a joke. Also, he is very accomodating to my questions regarding our next port of call.

He loves to dance like a teenager gal in the disco bar. I told him maybe on his youth he is always on disco bars. And he happily said yes, with girls… plenty girls even hookers. πŸ˜‚
At 65, he had 4 kids age 41, 39, 19 and 4… all with 3 different women. Thanks to Viagra, he was still able to have his 4th kid with his 32 years old partner.

At 65, I can tell he has lived his life well.

Abandonship Drill

The sinking of Titanic brought us SOLAS regulations. Part of SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Regulation is the Abandonship Drill which every vessel must carried out atleast once every month.

Checking of Life Jacket ie Lights whistle as well as each crews duties and responsibilities are part of the drill making sure all equipment is working well and duties are known by them.

Today, we also lowered our port and starboard lifeboat when we had our drills as part of the requirements (once every three months) here in Macapa, Brazil Anchorage. πŸ‡§πŸ‡·

Proper execution of duties and responsibilities in launching the lifeboat must bear in mind by every seafarer as this task is very critical. Some accidents happen because of lack of training and carelessness.

The lifeboat were lowered in the water and properly secured. We completed our drills safely and turned out to have satisfactory result.

Table Mountain! πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦Β

Perks of being a seafarer? Its to visit countries for free. And if given a chance, to go for shoreleave and wander!

Too bad we only had a very quick port of call in Cape Town, South Africa. No shorepass were given as we only stayed for hours just to pick some provisions, stores and bunkers.

Its my first time in Cape Town. We arrived early morning and was very fortunate to see the sunrise πŸŒ…. Oh by the way, I love sunrise as many others do πŸ˜‚.

The view is surreal! I dont know but I always in awe everytime I see sunrise like this. On my far starboard side (right) is the iconic Table Mountain of Cape Town. And again, I am really amazed! I think I stared at it for quite a while before coming back to reality that yes, its really that amazing! By the way we are very lucky that the weather is fine when we get there. Most of the times weather in Cape Town is bad, swells and seas are rough. If ever, I won’t have any chance to see Gods masterpiece at its finest.

Since we can’t go for shoreleave, all I can do is to get some pictures of it. Theres a lot pf activity that tourist can do with the Table Mountain. Some uses cable car or hike just to get on top. The whole city is overlooking from top.

By sunset we finish our operations and set to sail again. Hoping I can comeback once again in Cape Town. And by that time I will wander the city and reach the top of the Table Mountain.
