Stones
and tendrils
intertwined —
an animated
latticework —
white trumpet
announcing
the day.

Bopping its boughs —
to the beat of the wind —
Ponderosa on air drums.

Warming,
thawing,
spring awake,
innervating
winter’s
still facade,
a waterfall
rushes
at right
angles
atop
the washboard
of my forebrain
folds,
polishing
memory,
grey
and white
matter
absorbs
slick
bedrock
ricochets,
as turbid
tiers
topple
into
wet
thickets
of foam,
freshly
fevered
fists
flow
freely
in parallel,
a mist-mash
mounting
moss,
returning
our earthly
abode
anew, lush,
invigorated
causeways
crowning
an emerald
flush.

Under thick duff —
breathing through its skin —
a salamander silently shuffles —
towards its log cabin.

A flock of geese —
arch like a backbone —
across the cerulean sky.

From its perch —
the heron gains —
heightened
awareness.

Tree
branches
tapping
me on the
shoulder —
gentle
reminders
that Nature
is always
here when
all else fails.
