Week 4 of the 52WCC revisited is Banana. The original colour of the week was Banana Mania(a paler colour, which is more like vanilla!).
Banana Mania got missed the first time. I didn’t do a banana related post until 2017, by which time I had been revisiting on-and-off the idea/concept of 52 Weeks of Colour for approximately 3 years. (I enjoy doing posts that have a theme, whether it’s a colour of the week, look of the day, or roleplay.)

The colour for week 3 of the 52WCC Revisited was Khaki. Back in 2011, it had been the colour for week 47.

Initially, I thought that Em was going to be posing for this post, but it seems Viki has gotten there first. Apparently, Viki had just the outfit in her wardrobe – it would appear khaki and related colours are more Viki’s thing.
The colour for week 2 of the 52 WCC Revisited is Black. It was week 14 in the original challenge.
Good-quality black dyes were not known until the middle of the 14th century. The most common early dyes were made from bark, roots or fruits of different trees; usually walnuts, chestnuts, or certain oak trees. The blacks produced were often more grey, brown or bluish. The cloth had to be dyed several times to darken the colour. One solution used by dyers was the adding of iron filings (rich in iron oxide) to the dye, which gave a deeper black. Another was to first dye the fabric dark blue, and then to dye it black.

A much richer and deeper black dye was eventually found, made from the oak apple or “gall-nut”. The gall-nut is a small round tumour which grows on oak and other varieties of trees. They range in size from 2–5 cm, and are caused by chemicals injected by the larva of certain kinds of gall wasp in the family Cynipidae. The dye was very expensive, as a great quantity of gall-nuts were needed to make a very small amount of dye. Beginning in about the 14th century, dye from gall-nuts was used for clothes of the kings and princes of Europe.

Chic’s week 1 colour was Patriarch – way back in the day this was week 38! For some reason I had missed this one at the time 😕 but here is my pic from 2016 (when I was doing my own 52WC based around the colours I had missed).

Yassin Shaj stood at the bottom of the steps, waiting for the ‘old friend’ of Vince’s to arrive for their rendevous. As he waited, he recalled the conversation with Vince from a few days prior.
Yassin Shaj had looked up from his comms unit to see his number two, Vince Halten, standing in the doorway. ‘Just received a message from an old friend of mine, who is asking to speak to you in person.Shaj leaned back in his chair and looked at Vince intently. ‘Did they give you a rendezvous point?’
‘I sent the details to your comms. Looks like Meskeran is starting to get suspicious, as he has put a missing persons bulletin on Alana Ryjvik, a senior officer in the Guardians elite unit.’
Shaj nodded and dismissed Vince with thanks. He trusted Vince well enough to know that with a Guardian officer to go missing, something serious was happening at Meskeran’s CenCom. That something was certainly not very good.
To keep the effing peace!! Being the ‘oldest’* of the 3 of us can be tough. *gets pokes in the ribs* Hey! I love you, V & E, really!
You can imagine the pouting, foot stomping, etc. that happened when a certain bratty little sister found out about me and Viki hanging out the other day.
To be honest, I really like having the little brat around. If I’m having a crap day (who doesn’t?), Emmi is just the person who can have you howling with laughter, with tears running down your cheeks.

The wild ancestors of maize and beans have been pinpointed quite precisely by locating which of the possible wild populations have the specific genetic markers of the domesticated varieties.
Maize evolved from a wild grass called teosinte which continues to grow in remote parts of Mexico. It is now thought to be the direct descendent of the so-called ‘Balsas teosinte’ (named after the Balsas River valley in central Mexico where this wild grass still grows today).
Wild beans grow throughout the whole of Central America. A wild population cluster in the area of the modern city of Guadalajara, in Mexico’s Jalisco state, has been identified as the ancestor of the common domesticated bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) which comes in many different forms including red, pinto, and kidney.
I had to drag my big brother (and best friend!) into this post, as we’re not in SL together often, and I happened to know that he has been ‘updating’ his look recently. *nudges big bro in the side*
So, seeing that the most familiar varieties of common beans are the pinto and kidney, I have chosen the colours of those particular beans.

Oh lordy! Three years languishing in virtual limbo is not good for anyone!!! *crosses arms and pouts* It does give me the perfect excuse to have makeover!
First part of this makeover was to switch to a different mesh body. The Signature Gianni was so not what I wanted in a body — it made me look like a gym addict (thanks to the deltoids [shoulder muscles]!). So I hopped over to Belleza to try their male body and after 24 hours trying the demo, there was no hesitation in buying the Belleza Jake mesh body.
Unlike Signature who have 2 mesh bodies available, Belleza only has the one which comes with 2 system shapes.

Also included in the Belleza package was one of their own skin applier for Catwa mesh heads, and the hud for the body has their skin tones.
The Mens Dept is a fantastic place to pick up a wide range of items – hair, clothing, poses, etc. TMD was the start of my little shopping spree, where I found this cute hair by Dura (just had to buy 2 fatpacks!), and this plain, simple & cosy sweater by etham.
The rest of my shopping was done on SL Marketplace (finding some bargains in the gacha resale section), or inworld at main stores.
Of the three (maize, squash, and beans), squash was the first to be domesticated by indigenous peoples in Mexico, before spreading south through what is now known as Mesoamerica, on into South America, and north to what is now the southwestern United States. The earliest known evidence dates back at least 8,000 years ago, predating the domestication of other crops such as maize and beans in the region by about 4,000 years.
Modern cultivated varieties include pumpkin, butternut squash, and spaghetti squash. The first recorded use of Pumpkin as a colour name in English was in 1922.
In real life, I am an armchair archaeologist and a history nut fascinated by early human civilisations and societies. And it is in this context, that I was inspired to create this post. The phrase ‘the three sisters’ refers to the 3 staple foods in most Native American societies: maize (corn), beans, and squash (e.g. pumpkin, etc).
Maize is used in reference to a specific tone of yellow. However, it can be applied to a variety of shades, ranging from light yellow to a dark shade that borders on orange, since the colour of maize (the actual corn) may vary.
The word maize is derived from the Spanish form of the Taíno word for the plant, mahiz. The first recorded use of maize as a colour name in English was in 1861.
