Alpha waves
As I eased into consciousness, I realized these were the thoughts right there on that limbo level. Like being in between a dream that just finished and waking up. I exerted effort to gather what I could. There were two more I cannot remember til now. I reached for my phone and tried documenting it as soon as I can, before they faded away.
1. Walang drawing printouts sa site. The workers are not able to visualize final and complete design intent. Wala tuloy anticipation
2. Drawings: plan, 4 walls, no need for 691 layout, pwede na tabi-tabi like panoramic
3. BCE has grouped cells per room. Bukod sa area and cost per sqm, may listing na rin ng things anticipated sa room na yun as prep for BOM
4. Ibalik yung “payment per cutoff”mindset Yung every 15/30, may target project kung saan manggagaling ang funds pampasweldo. First week of the cutoff, target done na yung accomplishment tapos sent na yung billing. Second week ng cutoff, palugit kay client maka-send ng payment. For construction, porque weekly ang need for funds (twice a week pa nga pala), dapat weekly ang payment accomplishment mindset. Dalhin across all projects ang setup sa Agatha.
GET THESE DONE, VING. IDEATION WITHOUT IMPLEMENTATION IS INSANITY.

The Italian Job
There are times when I can trust a good movie to lend some positive energy back in to my exhausted existence. For tonight, it was The Italian Job that did it for me.
I am grateful for characters that glamorize focus, for actors who embody fitness as part of excellence, and for stories that glamorize single-mindedness and hard-work.
Speaking of movies, I’m also partial to plots about believing in one’s self. These three are old and somehow lousy but they capture me in parts that resonate with bits of my reality: The Matrix, Kung Fu Panda, and The Lego Movie. I relate to how Neo, Po, and Emmet were losers. I’m still working on my own ending, though.
Listing here some favorites to which I can go back the next time I’m so down and low all over again:
The Tourist (Alexander Pierce is spot on!)
Limitless
The Pursuit of Happiness
And, since I’m already here, ‘might as well list my movie heroines as well:
Lara Croft
Jean Gray
Pepper Potts
(the girls in that GI Joe movie)
Wonder Woman
RGB
No real attempts to close this properly. I’m out.

Happy birthday!
A dozen years ago today, I gave birth for the first time. It was to a nine-pound goliath of a baby. And I named him David.

Ving’s Version
DRAFT MODE: I serendipitously come across Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s book “My Own Words” through the Facebook post of Architect Lira Luis.
I remember how much I wished to write my own, too. After having learned about Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Eat, Pray, Love” as a memoirist.
There’s also one other lady I came across as a “diarist”
I hope I’ll get to write more starting today.
And finding my old writings, too.

a day of encouragement
I have been worried over cashflow for some days now. I have been going to God and expressing it to Him and that gesture relieves me of my fear. That is, until something comes to my attention and it all creeps back to me, argh.
Right now, however, I realize that my day has been littered with encouragement.
1. My first appointment included a dozen of young people thanking me. It felt awkward because I didn’t feel worthy of their gratitude. In fact, I was ashamed and I felt grateful to them instead. However, they were kind enough to show me that maybe I was doing ok.
2. I got to the office and checked my email. There was one that actually spelled it out for me: “Believe in your capacity to make money.” It was a link to the blogsite of Mr. Bo Sanchez, the lay preacher. I followed it and was blessed through his message.
3. Processing what I read from number 2 led me to recall a lecture by forex analyst Mr. Val Mendoza. As he closed it, he said: “Man made money but God made wealth.” And then he wrote the verse Deuteronomy 8:18 on the whiteboard. It said, “Remember the Lord your God for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth.”
4. Dinner was a treat from my closest college classmate, Arch. Tricia Sardinia. She’s back from Belgium after finishing her post-graduate studies with honors. She shared her experiences, all of them awesome! And she did so without an ounce of arrogance. I admire her for her achievements, and even more so for her groundedness. As we finished our meal she indirectly reminded me that it’s just money. It’ll come, it’ll go, you’ll earn it back. Do make ends meet, do what it is you aspire for, and do be accountable.
I don’t think I have completely conveyed how this day has touched me. I just know that it has moved me enough to immortalize it in a very rare blog entry. Today has made me less down, more thoughtful, and for sure: encouraged. Thank You, Lord. Thanks everyone.

notes
This is to keep an electronic copy of my notes from a seminar we were just granted at BSU CAFA. I immediately forgot the name of our speaker but she was wonderful! I will ask my colleagues for her details soon.

Do not change the standards. Change the criteria and strategies.
(Anecdote: A teacher asked if he should lower the passing score from 75 to say, 70. She refered the situation to Olympic divers getting only one shot to solicit a perfect 10.)
(Anecdote 2: Tricia graduating cum laude thinking the passing threshhold was 75, when it was only 50 all along.)

Resource Speaker: Arch. Diomar D. De Castro
(Property Manager, Mapua Institute of Technology)
I was blessed to have taken part in this activity last Friday. These are just my bullets of my notes and personal thoughts. This is not an attempt to summarize the presentation. These are items in it that I relate to personally. One day soon I hope to be able to edit this to make it more presentable. The terms I just caught very quickly, I still need to read up about them. Thank you, Sir Diomar. ‘Learned a lot.

(I remember Papa working on my car battery yesterday. He had a multi-tester that checks the potential difference between the two terminals; he explained that a car battery is rated 12volts so that’s what we hope to read from the multi-tester. He also had an ammeter that measures the current discharged by the battery when the engine is off and the fan and headlights and sounds are on. He also checked the current charged into it when the engine is running and when he increases the rpm. This memory is significant to me because I realize that he could not have made a correct diagnosis had he not been more informed thanks to these tools).

*I learned stuff from the c-joist product demo. I suppose it helped me integrate some learnings. 630-1000 php per linear meter on the .9m span for rowhouses. supposedly almost the same with steel decking.
