Red and White Applique 11, 12

Who needs a dozen, or two, different colours to make an applique quilt!

One hint if you choose red as one of the colours … make sure you only bleed on the red fabric!

However, make sure you wash the red fabrics very well before cutting to stop the fabric bleeding.

This will be my last post as the Virtual Quilter here on WordPress. I am looking for a new home for the quilt designs, but have other issues to deal with so will leave a note here when I can find the new home and the other issues are dealt with.

Thank you to those of you who have followed my virtual quilting journey.

Red and White Patches 11, 12

The first design today has two 9 Patch block designs using two different fabrics, and it looks good.

The second design has 4 different 9 patch blocks and 3 fabrics, and it also looks good! One of the block designs is only used once.

The only down side I can think of is that I couldn’t justify spending an hour in a quilt shop to select the fabrics!

Julianne’s Star 19, 20

Nothing like star gazing when there is a clear dark sky.

I love the second design!

My quilting idea for these designs is to quilt the outline of the basic pattern of the block regardless of where the colour has been placed in the block. The back of the quilt would look like it had identical pieced stars all over the front.

Star for Selina 27, 28

This project file is based on one fairly complex block, but with some pieces hiding because they are replaced with the background fabric.

Perhaps there are a lot of unknown star signs hiding in these designs.

 Purple Logs 21, 22, 23, 24, 25

Middle of another week, just after the middle of the year.

These designs have all light, all dark and half light, half dark blocks.

The next two have exactly the same blocks, but with a few of them turned around.

I like the one with the dark centre … but I might change my mind after a second coffee.

Just four all dark blocks in the last, and this is my favourite for today.

Iron Lace and Roses 1, 2

New project to start a new month. It feels as though half a year has gone in a day

I love the second design … will be fun to see what else I can do with iron lace and rose block designs.

White On Colour 21, 22

Red is not my favourite colour, except  perhaps during the Christmas season, but I love this design!

Green is one of my favourite colours all through the year, and I love this design too.

Applique Tiles 11, 12

I designed these thinking of fabric applique tiles on a bed.

But what about ceramic tiles in the bathroom, or carpet tiles in the lounge or bedroom?

Or machine embroidered on curtains or clothing?

A Whiter Shade on Gold Quilted 25, 26

I love seeing old buildings with iron lace decorations, and would love to see new iron lace trims.

I also like playing with quilt designs with low contrast, and have a collection of projects featuring iron lace designs with low contrast.
