Where are the toffypops??

You know when you really crave some random thing? (no, I’m not pregnant and not craving dirt or anything stupid)

Well my random craving – toffypops!!

Lovely heart attack inducing buttery shortbread covered in a layer of equally coronary inducing gooey toffee and finally covered in rippling milk chocolate.
Are you drooling yet?? 🙂

Well that my friends is a toffypop. Made by the wonderful Burton’s biscuit factory who also make wonderful and unhealthy biscuits like jammy dodgers and wagon wheels. Whatever happened to wagon wheels? Don’t see them in the shops either…

Anyways, have been on a quest to find this gooey treasure and am coming up with zilch. Looked in the usual grocery stores, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s – zilch. Then one day I happened to pass a £ shop. Yeah yeah I know, only the schemies go in there but I got 2 kids with toys that need upto 6 batteries each and you can’t beat 10 Kodak batteries for £1!! So what do I find as I pass the biscuit aisle to pay ?? Toffypops!!! Yippee!!! So I buy a packet – devoured by the kiddos. Go back to get more and they are all out 😦 why oh why? So I go back again a week later, still nothing. Another week later, still zip. No grocery stores have them. So now I’m wondering has there been some toffypop recall?? Have they decided not to manufacture them any more?? What’s going on?? I may need to pay a visit to the factory(which happens to be nearby 😉 ) to find out what’s going on! Anyone have any ideas??

Hospital phobia

As a species we have lived through many diseases. The black plague, leprosy, measles, mumps, typhoid, smallpox, syphilis.

So then why are we becoming such a germophobic society? We’re living in little bubbles filled with hand sanitizer and antibiotics.  This kind of behavior is creating superbugs, resistant to antibiotics  We’re also babying our children too much. “Here sweetie, you’re 5 years old but you can still have a pacifier….” WHAT????? Oh here let me cut up your food and mash it for you so you don’t have to chew. We’re creating a species who will never be able to function.  Survival of the fittest? The human race will not be members of those survivors. Cockroaches… definitely, but that’s another blog!

So why am I blabbing on about all this? I’m getting sick of hearing things like “the last time I was seriously sick was after i went to the hospital”, “hospitals are where you go to get sick” BUZZZZZ WRONG!!!

Yes hospitals harbor germs, yes they are full of sick people. Its all true! BUT tn why aren’t the nurses and doctors dying off from all these illnesses that they face every day? How are pregnant nurses allowed to work under conditions where they may be exposed to lethal bacteria for them and their babies.  It breaks my heart to see those tiny babies int he hospital, barely able to breathe on their own. But even with their compromised immune systems, they don’t get worse, they get better and they recover so that one day they can then leave that hospital and go into the real world. How do they manage it?

Simple.

Hand washing.

That’s it! They wash their hands and they go home, take off their clothes, put them in the wash and jump in the shower.  Simple, basic hygiene ritual. They also never touch their faces. You have an itch, you rub with the back of your arm, not your hands.

So if you have a sick friend or relative, don’t be afraid of how sick you might get when you go to visit them, or what you may catch, just make sure you wash your hands and don’t touch your face!
