Fat buds of frothy blossom
Just waiting to burst forth;
Giddy springtime
Frost-nipped ears and cheeks
But a warm and joyful
Heart
Sunshine on frost
Bluetits chatter; reeds around the frozen pond
Dance
Birdsong
Filling each rain-strewn moment with
Joy
Still
Soft air
Rain falls gently
Caressing winter’s starkness with
Love
Light fades
Trees stand naked, exposed,
Soon to be cloaked in
Velvet darkness
Under the moonlight
December’s first frost and a
Blanket of stars
… The light at this time of year is lovely… Especially at the end of the day when the sun is sinking and the moon is rising and golden sunlight paints the naked trees golden… The spaces between trees open up to the light where leaves used to provide shade… Blackbirds rifle through the fallen leaves before daylight fades completely… Fingers and cheeks tingle in the crisp, chilly air… Anticipation… Autumn is giving way to winter… Change is in the air… It feels good…
