Thank you to Jonathan Ball Publishers for sending me this stunning copy of  Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Illustrated Version to review.

I love this version so so much!!! The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and simply dazzling, and this book is a must have for ALL  Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter fans!!!

From the moment you open the book, up until the last page, you will find something new and exciting. For example, the first and last pages of the book contain a stunning map that I am absolutely in love with!

Here are some other examples of the completely gorgeous illustrations and format (as well as some of my favourite magical creatures!)

The format of the book is also quite different from the Fantastic Beasts original screenplay. Where we first had a format in play form, we now have a chance to further explore these magical creatures.

Get ready to go on an exploratory journey filled with magic and prepare your senses to be stunned by the gorgeous illustrations of fantastic creatures (centaurs, hippogriffs, nifflers, the works!) compiled by our favourite, Newt Scamander!!

Rating: 5/5 stars.

Disclaimer: Receiving copies to review in no way affects my opinion on the book. All opinions are my own.

Thanks everyone!!

Much Love

Without a doubt Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo was one of the most thrilling reads for me! From amazing characters to the incredible heist, I was constantly at the edge of my seat!! This world, and its characters, will stay with me for a very long time. Definitely one of the most impressive books I have come across. Can we please get more of this world??? *proceeds to sob in a corner*

I will never get tired of this masterpiece. Ever. This book is so special to me and once you read it perhaps you will come to understand why. The character development, as well as the new characters we are introduced to, the plot, the way things tie together from the first book, the love and respect and friendships developed steals my breath away. Oh, did I mention RHYS??? Every time I begin this book, I can’t seem to put it down! One of my favourite books, always!

I mean, just look at this beauty. No explanations needed!! The story was as beautiful as the cover and I enjoyed this one immensely! Can’t wait for the second book to be released!

Six-of-Crows-616x986

Okay, hear me out. I know this might come as a surprise but I couldn’t for the life of me understand what was happening at the beginning of the book (all those new terms!). At one point in the beginning I almost gave up. But!! once I got the gist of it, the rest was history! And I’m SO glad I came across this beaut!

Again, it’s beautiful (and sometimes rare for me) when you are able to connect to almost EVERY character in a book and begin to truly care about them. They make you laugh, they make you cry, and they make you root for them. Yes, this book is special.

InfernalDevices

Prepare to be assaulted by a barrage of feels with this series. I am no fan of love triangles, but Cassandra Clare executes this in the most perfect (and yes, heart wrenching) way. Also one of my all time favourite series. I am a huge Will and Jem fan and thank you Cassie for ruining me.

Thank you sarah@btweenthepages for this lovely tag and the cutest graphics!

Six of Crows Review

Six-of-Crows-616x986

Author: Leigh Bardugo

Hardcover, 462 pages

Published September 29th 2015 by Henry Holt and Company

Synopsis:

”Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone.…

A convict with a thirst for revenge.

A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.

A runaway with a privileged past.

A spy known as the Wraith.

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction–if they don’t kill each other first.”

Six of Crows is without a doubt one of the most brilliant books I have come across. It took the first few chapters to really get into, but once I did get into the book, I couldn’t put it down.

Bardugo really is a genius in narrating a story from multiple characters. She executes it flawlessly, and you truly come to care for each character as you learn their backstories and what drives them, as well as the reasons they are the way they are. Each character is so complex and unique, and I was rooting and fangirling over every one of them (they are all my squishy cinnamon rolls that I want to hug, and, please Bardugo, don’t hurt them).

Filled with some of the most kick-ass, hilarious and loveable characters, an incredible and exciting heist that keeps you constantly at the edge of your seat, and an awesome plot, this book is a MUST read. I cannot recommend it enough.

My rating: 5/5 stars.

Review- Gemina

Authors: Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff.

Series: The Illuminae Files (Book 2)

Hardcover: 672 pages

Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers (October 18, 2016)

Synopsis:

”Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.
The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.
Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy’s most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.
When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station’s wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.
But relax. They’ve totally got this. They hope.
Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling readers into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.”

Dear Amie and Jay:

Firstly, I find it imperative to thank you (NOT) for PLAYING with my emotions like this. It takes an evil genius of a writer to rip someone’s heart out, give them momentary relief, only to rip their heart out again, all the while making them laugh through some (a lot) parts of the book at the insanely witty humour despite the seriousness of the situation. Oh, and also, cry.

Thank you for introducing the world of sci-fi in this unique and special way to me. I’m at a loss for words.

-Sincerely, a hard-core fan.

The Illuminae series has being lying on my shelf for quite some time, for a number of reasons. My ever growing TBR pile, the fact that I’m not exactly a fan of sci-fi books (or so I thought), and also because of the format of the  book. I could honestly kick myself for waiting this long to read it.

It is brilliant, unique, witty, heart-breaking, and simply, out of this world (pun intended). It is the second book in a series, so I would recommend beginning with the first book (Illuminae).

Rating: 5/5 stars.

Strange The Dreamer Review-Laini Taylor

strange-the-dreamer

Author: Laini Taylor

Hardcover: 544 pages

Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers (March 28, 2017)

Synopsis:

”The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around–and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old he’s been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself, in the person of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance to lose his dream forever.
What happened in Weep two hundred years ago to cut it off from the rest of the world? What exactly did the Godslayer slay that went by the name of god? And what is the mysterious problem he now seeks help in solving?

The answers await in Weep, but so do more mysteries–including the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo’s dreams. How did he dream her before he knew she existed? and if all the gods are dead, why does she seem so real?

In this sweeping and breathtaking new novel by National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor, author of the New York Times bestselling Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy, the shadow of the past is as real as the ghosts who haunt the citadel of murdered gods. Fall into a mythical world of dread and wonder, moths and nightmares, love and carnage.

Welcome to Weep.”

Sometimes you come across beautiful and enchanting cover, and you wonder if the story will be equally as beautiful and enchanting.

Lazlo Strange, a war orphan, has a peculiar fascination with the lost city called Weep. Recruited for a mission, he finally has the chance to make his dreams come true. Little does he know what awaits him in the City of Weep…

I absolutely loved this book so much! Laini has created an exquisite world, filled with rich descriptions, loveable characters, the sweetest romance, plot twists and heart wrenching cliff hangers! There were parts that sometimes felt slow paced, but I got so lost in the beautiful writing I didn’t mind much.

The author makes you feel a little something for each character as you begin to understand their back story, including Minya (even though I wanted to scream and shout at her, I also felt a strange pity towards her.)

And guys, how cool were Lazlos and Sarai’s meetings? Dream up whatever setting you want? Yes please!!!  I won’t give away too much, but I would recommend reading with a box of tissues. The last chapter will rip your heart out. Have fun! lol

I would highly recommend this book.

4.5/5 stars.

Much love ❤
