NEW SITE!!
I have noticed over at my new place that my readership is down and it occured to me that mayhaps some of you readers of mine have missed seeing me ‘light up’ on your Google Reader list. On my old blog, I have 24 readers linked to me via Google Reader, but I just checked and on my new one, there are only 10. 😦
Mayhaps some of my readers are bored with my tales and don’t wish to follow me….sniff, sniff…..I also considered that I should do another post over here as a reminder of sorts, just in case anyone has just overlooked switching over.
Since everything has been moved over to the new spot, I figured on shutting this one down, but I guess there’s no hurry and I wouldn’t wanna lose anybody!?!?!?!

Finally!
Things are looking up! Right after I posted my entry, Mr. FedEx showed up with my hard drive. I ripped open the box, got my screwdriver and dove right in! I am happy to report that my desk top is all restored to it’s factory settings and I got a few programs installed and it is purring QUIETLY! YAY!!! When I get home from work today, I will finish installing the rest of my programs and will call HP to see if they can manage to get my back up files restored.
Apparently it has been an issue in the past. I’m not sure if it is a Vista issue or a problem with that particular Pocket Media Drive, but they were going to have to research it and find other cases to review and find out exactly how it was done. See, when you go to ‘restore back up ‘ and try to do it that way, an error message comes up that says there is nothing on the selected drive. BUT, if I go to the drive, all the files show up and are there, but………it won’t let me ‘extract’ them. I am confident that all will be well by this evening…..I must think positive!!!!!
I have spent the past couple days working on my email. I thought about LA’s comment that she always sticks with Hotmail, so I pursued that. It seems that Hotmail is all done through Windoz Live now, so I got it all set up. I used to use Hotmail and in fact still get some mail there, but I forget to check it very often. Anyway, I tried to get everything set up to have my Gmail go there and for some reason it won’t. I checked and double checked all the settings in both places and it LOOKS okay. So I abandoned that idea.
Miss Prissy says she loves Gmail and her recommendations to me in the past have always been most excellent (as in she’s the one that got me using Flickr Pro rather than Photobucket and I LOVE it!). The thing I don’t like about the Gmail program itself is the fact that you can’t forward to several people by selecting them from your contact list. I really hate that, but I suppose in the grand scheme of things, it’s no big deal. I can create groups to forward to if I want and for some stuff that would work just fine.
I just have a hard time with change, unless it’s something I really want to do and it involves having all the bells and whistles and a bag of chips too! So, I’ll just put on my big girl panties and deal!
Time to get ready for work. Still counting those pennies and nickels by hand! That’s okay….takes me about 1/2 an hour longer that way so more $$ for me. Woo Hoo! Big whip, eh?!
I’m SO-O-O Tired
Tired of waiting. I have no patience people. Anyone that has even laid eyes on me can see that. One doesn’t have to know me.
I’m tired of waiting for the FedEx guy to bring my new hard drive. It would be just too much to ask for it to arrive today in a timely manner so that mayhaps I could get my computer up and on the road to recovery TODAY!
I am tired of waiting for said hard drive so that the geeks at HP can help me get my backup files of my whole life off the sorry ass HP Pocket Media Drive that contains my whole freakin life!!
I am tired of waiting for men to grow the f–k up and act like adults! (excluding Art of course, cuz we know he’ll never grow up and we wouldn’t want him any other way 🙂 )
I’m tired of waiting for exciting new things to happen that were once supposed to take about 6 weeks, which at the time I thought I’d never be able to stand to wait that long, but it’ll be 3 months tomorrow…sigh. I know there’s a reason for it, but still I am disappointed.
I am tired of you guys flaunting your pretty gardens and flowers (YC points finger at Paula and Lena) because my fooking flowers won’t grow!
I’m tired of my piss ass job and my asshole husband and my stupid house that won’t clean itself and my fooking flowers that won’t grow and my ‘ass ache’ (AKA back & hip crap) and not being able to ride my Susie and the price of groceries going up and my hours at my piss ass job becoming fewer instead of more, blah, blah yada, yada. And I am DAMN sick and tired of waiting for October so I can get the hell out of here!!!!!
There. I pretty much got that out of my system. Yes, I still like my job in as much as what I do in the cash office. I just don’t like that it’s not enough hours and the fact that I was supposed to get more hours (even tho’ I wasn’t crazy about what I was doing) isn’t panning out. Whatever.

Let’s see……good things….Oh yes. August 12th will be our 30th wedding anniversary. (We’ve been together almost 40 years, but only made it ‘legal’ in 1978.) Hubby is thinking of taking me to New Orleans for our anniversary cuz he knows I LOVE N’Awlins! And he likes it too. And it is a good time to go because it’s too fookin hot for tourists to go, so rooms are dirt cheap, even in the French Quarter. My God! The thought is nice, but I will absolutely melt!!! Unless we can stay in our air-conditioned room during the day and roam the French Quarter at night when it’s 5 degrees cooler and the humidity has dropped a point or 2……not to mention that the shops that I love to go to will be closed. Cheapskate. Just wants to take me so he can deprive me of my beloved French Quarter shopping adventures. Because……..this Irish blooded, Upstate New York/Alaskan Yankee doesn’t even SHOP when it’s HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! The sad thing is, that we couldn’t take our motor home. I figured up that gas would cost approximately $700-$750. At 9MPG, you don’t get much bang for your buck! We can drive the ‘Ho, rent a room for 3 nights, eat at Bubba Gumps twice a day and still have $$ left to shop with for that amount of $$! And I won’t have to load and unload or cook or wash or anything! Sounding better all the time! But I seriously doubt it will happen. He’ll have too much work going on to leave. I just know it. No big deal.
I’ll just go sit in the shade out by the fence and read while my pretty girls munch grass. It’s the most relaxing thing I can do and I need to do it much more often! Those horses are magical. Being with them just makes everything else go away………at least for the moment. And we really can only take one moment at a time and make the best of it right? Speaking of which, I better take this moment to do some cooking. Need to make a batch of this Green Chile stuff that we like to eat with our Tamales. See ya’.

Well, after checking the schedule yesterday, I found that I get to work today……makes my 6th Sunday in a row. No big deal I suppose, but Chuck sure doesn’t like it since it’s his only day off. It’s crazy. The store is supposedly doing terrific according to the “numbers”, but they keep cutting staff. People are getting burnt out because they are expected to do the work of 2 or 3 people and still are being kept on part time status (under 36 hours). I don’t have that problem with my cash office job, but there is only one other person that can cover for me so the schedule has to be kinda tricky to work out. The other gal, Becky, covers for me on my days off, works in the office part of the time and in Guest Services part of the time. I guess I just get the left overs. Whatever.
This computer business really has me frazzled. The longer I have to wait to get things resolved the more ‘concerned’ I am about recovering my data on the backup drive. I want it NOW, so I know all is safe! I really didn’t want to duplicate everything on my laptop, but maybe that really is the best thing to do. I don’t know!?!?!
And I still don’t like Gmail, as far as actually using it for viewing and saving, etc. Not sure what to do for mail. I tried Thunderbird for awhile, but that didn’t do it for me either. I just like things a certain way and I can never find the right combination of ‘features’.
I seem to have that problem in all areas of my life….computer programs, work, and God knows men fall into that category! LOL

Throwing Up Part 3
Well, I called to have the new hard drive shipped out and was told that I should receive it the 10th. So I spent most of today setting up things in my laptop that I originally had no intention of putting on it.
Email was a big thing. Although I use Gmail as my addy, I don’t actually use it to as my default mail. But I tried to set it up that way today and found that I couldn’t open any attachments in messages. So I fiddled around with that for too long and then realized that Gmail doesn’t contain very many of my contacts! Gah!! I never put them in there cuz I don’t use it, so there are only a handful.
This really got me thinking about web based stuff, especially in connection with my photos. I have always been of a mind that one should store all of their stuff on their own computer, where it can be available any time. I never felt that storing anything on line was very reliable. I am rethinking that these past couple of days. I am also thinking that there is something to be said for the umpteen boxes of photos and photo albums that I have. I know exactly where those pictures are and can put my grubby little hands on them any time I want!! Ahhhh……..the good old days!
Modern technology seems to spit in my face way too often………then I get mad, then I just shrug it off and carry on, thinking that “it” couldn’t possibly happen to me again. Pretty silly, what say?! It’s like my media drive I got for a backup. It’s supposed to be easy. Plug it in, back up……plug it in, retore. Simple. Why doesn’t this stuff ever work for me??? My name is NOT Murphy, for cripes sake! Might as well change it to that and get it over with. Jeez!
Well, I best go get ready for work and quit my sniveling. I’ll be back later to read about everyones fun July 4th adventures!
Throwing Up Part 2
Well, here I am a couple hours later and the hard drive on my PC is revving it’s engines again! Guess I’ll call in the morning and arrange for a new hard drive to be sent. Heavy sigh…………
They were having quite a time trying to help me restore my back up, and we got as far as someone being able to show me how to get to individual files if I need to. In the mean while, we made arrangements for the guy to call me back on Monday and help me restore everything. Apparently this is a common problem, so what’s the point?!?! The guy said it is much better to back up your stuff on cds rather than an external media drive. Go figure! This is just craziness! Why do they make these things if they aren’t reliable and user friendly?!?
That’s all the sniveling you get from me tonight. I know you’d love to hear more, but I’m just going to have to deprive you!
