Of the Twelve

Of the twelve months’ names,

January is the only one to include

the sound of the word new.

Since January begins the new year,

what if its nu can be a clue?

While new and nu are homophones

(differently spelled),

January’s nu (like deja vu)

is ringing a bell.

New Year’s Day and Ring a Bell Day

being the 1st of January

remind me of these thoughts

(that I’m now sharing).

The echoes in this poem

might seem like coincidence,

but if you listen, reflect, question,

you may learn and find hints…

Top of Tree

The top of a tree looks like

it’s giving the middle finger.

Maybe that tree could be

thought of as a clinker,

and maybe the way it looks

could be thought of as a zinger.

That tree got flocked up;

it’s like it’s saying “Flock you”.

The spirit of that tree

feels honest and true.

National Giving Month

or Month of Giving (December)

and Christmas trees

that are flocked in December

remind me of these thoughts

(in this poem: they’re remembered).

A tree can send a message

and plant a seed of poetry.

That tree’s gesture: uncensored,

shameless, and

free…

Voodoo Maker

A voodoo maker of dolls likes ATMs

since they encourage her to enter pins.

Digits could be covered.

Pins can go in limbs,

shins, and chins

of these lifelike creations.

Halloween Safety Month (October)

and International Artist Day (25th of October)

remind me of these thoughts

(in this poem: they’re not over).

Like characters that can

be played at Trunk or Treat,

these dolls may be used for healing

and stress relief…

More jousting thoughts

This post is a continuation of my poem Jousting (posted last week;

My other jousting thoughts did not fit in my Jousting poem.

The following are those thoughts (now I’m making them known):

If someone prepares for a possible joust, they prepare joust in case.

If a knight prefers to use a lance instead of two other lances, that knight could say “This one is joust right.”

If a knight’s lance grazes another knight, they make contact joust barely.

If two knights relate to each other platonically, they’re joust friends.

If someone proves that they can joust, one could think of them as joustified.

If changes are made in jousting, those changes could be called adjoustments.

If someone is open to advice on how to improve jousting, that advice could be called a sugjoustion.

If someone was where jousting happened very recently, that someone could say “I was joust there.”

To not write about the potential of the word jousting could feel like not doing it joustice.

If puns about jousting are annoying, the response from someone who’s sharing them could be “I’m joust saying”…

Jousting

If jousting is reenacted, its knights are joust kidding.

The start of their match could be called Joust the Beginning.

If these puns connect, they might be sidesplitting

even for those in armor (like metal that’s fitting).

If a knight points their lance at you, they could say “Joust for you.”

They could also encourage and say “Joust do it” too.

If a knight is punctual, they could be joust in time.

Pun within punctual was hinting that last line.

A knight who amuses could be called a court jouster

(in the view of a queen who is more powered).

Renaissance fairs (happening in September)

and the Folsom Renaissance Faire (happening near the end of September)

remind me of these thoughts (in this poem: they’re remembered).

A medieval shield? A chevalier can spear it

and at a ren faire (which can lift one’s spirit)…

Delta

If Delta Air Lines merged

with the airline United,

the result of their merging

could be named Delited.

Delited sounding like delighted

could make folks delighted

(including travelers, passengers, and a pilot

with a crew that may say “We are Delited”).

The name could be a selling point

for the undecided

(or anyone who’s not sure

about this hybrid)…

If you can imagine

two things being combined,

something new or amusing is what

you might find…

I hope that you watch Superman.

This film is top-notch…

If soccer and a film

with dinosaurs were mashed up,

the result could be called

Jurassic World Cup.

Jurassic World Cup sounds like a movie

with lots of running, chasing, kicks, saves. nets,

bloody red cards, wild game,

and sudden death…

FIFA Club World Cup

happening in July

and Jurassic World Rebirth

being released in July

remind me of these thoughts
