Stepping Stones in Life January 25, 2010

As some of you know, I started out on the internet with a club penguin account called San Diego Jr. this has been SO extremely influential on my life.
Shortly after i became a member, I set up a Club Penguin blog. this is how I met Bbfreeze, Chloe, and all of you people. Blogging exposed me to a language called HTML. HTML became my hobby, and i got better at it every day.
Soon, i was using JavaScript. Javascript was the first programming I’ve ever done, with simple stopwatches, if/then statements, etc.
By then, I was hooked onto the computer. i was on it all day, every day. Around December ’08, I got my own computer. Then I could do what I wanted, without disturbing other people’s computers.
I downloaded Xcode, a developer tool for programmers making Mac applications, as well as iPhone apps.
Xcode gave me a tool called Quartz Composer, and I began making elaborate screensavers with it. This showed me how a simple program works; how if you link this one dot to this other one, that one thing will happen.
I spent all summer ’09 working with this.
For christmas, I got an iPhone. iPhone inspired me to step up in programming. Soon, I had programmed my first functional iPhone app: A little app that displays my blog’s latest posts and allows you to comment. (I never uploaded it, so don’t bother looking for it)
Wordpress has been a stepping stone for me, and one of the most influential. if it weren’t for you guys, I would be waddling around on Club Penguin at this moment.
Like I left Club Penguin to move on, I am leaving this blog in order to move on. I will probably blog again in the future, but not for a few years.

BUT, i am not leaving you guys in the dust. Rather than leaving this blog to die, i will give it away to whoever wants it.
If you are at all interested in taking over, please leave a little application explaining why you want the job. i will pick my favorite next week.

I am so thankful for what this blog and all its viewers have done for me, and i will visit every once in a while to check on it.

STOCK SHOW January 10, 2010

Yesterday I spent all day at the stock show (which is why I couldn’t post).
You’re probably expecting me to tell you all about how fun it was and all that stuff, but I’m not.
It was smelly, dirty, and just gross. Every stereotype against Colorado was proven multiple times while I was there.
We aren’t beer chugging rednecks who drive rusty old pickup trucks, but the stock show would definately make you think so.

I am doing a science project where I make a crystal garden. Today I made bluing crystals. If you’ve ever smelled ammonia, you know how miserable I was. For those who don’t know, I can’t put it any other way than “it will make you hate breathing and you would rather suffocate than smell it.”

What do your parents make you do? Do you make a fuss or do you just go with it? See ya next Saturday!

UPGRADES/ANNOYING CRAP January 2, 2010

I feel like a dummy asking you guys, because i know exactly what my answer will be: Should I upgrade my CSS?
I really want to, but the issue is that im saving up for a 15″ MacBook Pro. Then again, CSS is only $15. Most of my blogs viewers were apparently here for my awesome CSS. 😦 sad but true.
Tell me what you think on that!

I will be listing some of my pet peeves (i have so many)

• It rlly annoyz meh when peoplez type lke ths!
• When people use the practice pedal.
• When people insult and criticize one of my creations, then follow it up with “Just Kidding!”
• Loud and repetitive video game soundtracks
• Embarrassing ringtones
• Laser printers
• When people don’t reply to a text or email
• when my CSS expires and I lose half my visitors

Those are some of the things I really don’t like.

MERRY CHRISTMAS/HAPPY NEW YEAR! December 30, 2009

I know i should stop apologizing fornot posting; i should just post. I know! Anyway, im sorry for not posting in over a month. Im gonna post about christmas.

This christmas was a hit! I got a 5×5 rubik’s cube, an Xbox 360, and for the grand finally: AN iPHONE! Josh got a hamster and I named her Nymphadora Tonks! Now that i have an iPhone, i WILL post EVERY SATURDAY! that will be my New Year’s Resolution! 😀

– My family had to save every penny this year in order to continue to eat nicely, live nicely, and basically make it through this depression.

Who’s excited for christmas? I AM!

Whether you celebrate christmas or not, this month is for giving love as well as physical gifts. Give your mom a hug or buy your dad a t-shirt. Show them you care.

However, the holidays is also about decorating (at least for me) and music and joy and being happy. If you are the type who stresses over christmas, don’t let yourself! Sit back by the fire or listen to holiday music or make some cookies!

I found a band (sort of) called The Trans-Siberian Orchestra, you may have heard of them. They have two really cool songs: Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24 and A Mad Russians Christmas. I happen to be playing sarajevo at an orchestra concert (I will post a video of my orchestra) and Mad Russian at a piano recital. I’ll also post a vid of that.

Thanksgiving! November 26, 2009

Hi im here and its been a hectic week.
Today was thanksgiving, also known as Turkey Day. Turkey is great, despite my vegetarian diet i couldn’t get enough of it.
Thanksgiving isn’t formerly called that, and it’s for a reason. Thanksgiving is for giving thanks and enjoying everything good in your life. I’m gonna list 10 things I’m thankful for and i would like you to do the same in a comment. [please]

Now with my post. I am in 8th grade (year 9) if you didn’t know. So, i am starting to consider college.
I am hoping to go to Stanford. For a couple of reasons:
1. beautiful campus!!! I fell in love with Stanford University the first time i saw it!

Quadratics: for dummies! November 5, 2009

Yesterday (i know i was going to post, but i was bogged down with homework) i graphed a quadratic!!!

Before learning quadratics, there are a couple of things you need to know:

Basic algebra

Linear relationships (y=mx+b)

Exponential relationships

completed Elementary school math

so that narrows it down (no offense)

First of all, a quadratic is a exponential relationship. You might know what an exponential relationship looks like on a graph:

A quadratic graph, however, does not look like that. A quadratic graph takes the form of a parabola, which looks like this:

Got it? now the confusing part: the equation.

If you know exponential relationships, then you know what the form is: y=a(b)^x, a being the y intercept, and b being the growth factor. a quadratic looks like: y=ax^2 + cx

a and c are NOT variables. I made that mistake and it gave me a huge headache. look at them as placeholders.
