Todd Wolfe Band, one of the hardest working blues-rock ensembles in the business, are joined by acclaimed organist John Ginty for the new album "Long Road Back" Wolfe and Ginty had already collaborated on the band's last highly-praised studio album, "Miles To Go" . Ginty has toured and recorded with artists such as Jewel, Citizen Cope, Santana, Dixie Chicks, Matthew Sweet, and the Court Yard Hounds. The New Jersey native is an original member of Robert Randolph and the Family Band, for which he received two Grammy Nominations. Longtime guitar ace Todd Wolfe is known for his work with the great Sheryl Crow (five years as her lead guitarist in the '90's), Carla Olson (the Textones); and Leslie West (Mountain), among others, throughout a stellar career. Wolfe has released eight albums since 1999 and has written songs for acts as diverse as country star Faith Hill and Stevie Nicks. Todd Wolfe plays aggressive and daring blues-tinged, jam rock reminiscent of the bands of the sixties and seventies influenced by Eric Clapton. "Long Road Back" the new studio album reflects this with two cover versions taken. First the classic blues rock song from Eric Clapton the Cream number " Outside Woman Blues " and second the Stephen Stills classic " Black Queen". Todd began playing on the New York scene back in 1979 with his band, Troy & the Tornados performing in rooms such as the Lone Star Cafe, The Ritz, My Father's Place, Lamour's, The Chance, Tramps, Rodeo Bar and probably any hole in the wall in the NYC area that would book the Tornados.
Todd or 'Troy' and company opened for a bevy of acts such as, Johnny Winter, Robin Trower, The Neville Bros., Son Seals, Dickey Betts, Omar & the Howlers, Gregg Allman, The Outlaws, Smithereens, Zebra, and his first opener back in 1980 , Albert Collins!
Todd decided to head west in 1990 to write and record a demo with a then unknown backup singer named Sheryl Crow. After having that demo passed on by some major labels and not generating much interest after one show case performance, Todd decided to stay in Los Angeles to record and tour with former Textone, Carla Olson. Todd continued to record and perform with Carla and gig with his own blues trio and kept busy scoring soundtracks for the Playboy Channel. Sheryl in the meantime, had finished her first album, 'Tuesday Night Music Club' and needed a guitarist for her touring band which she put together in June of 1993 so, Todd came on board and remained until February of 1998.
In 1996, Todd relocated back to the NYC area and with Eric Massimino, Mike Lawrence and Crow band mate Scott Bryan founded A & M Record's MOJOSON, a modern blend of psychedelic Rock and Blues. Since the Universal takeover of the Polygram group left new A & M acts like Mojoson in limbo, Todd elected to leave the label and dissolve Mojoson, putting his energies into Wolfe, which was born during the downtime from Sheryl Crow tours. Todd and his band, plays aggressive and daring blues tinged jam-rock reminiscent of the bands of the sixties and seventies. Now, with his newest band Todd Wolfe picks up where he left off 10 years ago with his original Bluesadelic-jamming sounds! "Borrowed Time", Todd's fifth album just released by Blues Leaf Records in North America and soon to be released in Europe by Hypertension Music is mostly comprised of original songs including "California" a song that Todd wrote with Sheryl Crow. Also included on the upcoming release is "Baby I'm Down" a Felix Pappalardi song from the first Leslie West album "Mountain". Todd is joined by Leslie on guitar and vocals for the remaking of this song making it a new classic! Also joining Todd and the band on the new disc is Susan Cowsill and Mary Hawkins. Todd's songs have been covered by a diverse range of artist such as, Deborah Coleman, Larry McCray, Faith Hill & Stevie Nicks.

Todd Wolfe spent five years playing guitar behind pop songstress Sheryl Crow. Now he fronts his own band, a strongly blues-based rock outfit whose first recording, Live From Manny's Car Wash, delivers heavyweight guitar heroics from the old school.
The players are finely tuned and capable of expressive dynamics: bassist Eric Massimino and drummers Yves Gerard and Paul Unsworth don't sound strictly like moonlighting rockers, while keyboardist Mike Lattrell, with his supportive rhythm work and strong soloing, is a tremendous asset. Wolfe's guitar sensibility is a rock 'n' roller's, bringing a searing quality to the band's Cream-y explorations. That's a useful point of comparison for Wolfe's style: Drop the needle (as it were) anywhere on Live, and you'll hear strong echoes of Eric Clapton's playing. Wolfe has adopted the legato note-cramming and highly ornamented approach of latter-period Clapton. He's imaginative, varying his attack song by song, and it's refreshing to discover a guitarist who doesn't smack of Texas or the West Coast. Wolfe's tone isn't far from Clapton's, though judging from the high noise level in his signal, his compression comes from a high-gain amp rather than from his pickups.
Wolfe doesn't sound like a natural singer, but he gives a spirited and relatively unmannered performance. The set list is a traditional, with selections such as "Same Thing," "Evil," "I Can't Quit You Baby" and "Homework." A high-energy "Stop Messin' Round," from Fleetwood Mac (possibly via Gary Moore), keeps the Brit Flag flying. Wolfe shows his songwriting hand only on "Four Walls," a Son House-style Delta slider arranged for a band, and the excruciating warp-speed power boogie "On the Run." So Live serves as a calling card, introducing Wolfe and his guitar but revealing little of the artist. For many that will be enough, and this is quite a good album in "gunslinger" terms.

The Todd Wolfe Band, consisting of Wolfe on vocals and guitar, Suavek Zaniesienko on bass, and Roger Voss on drums, is heard here at a show performed at McCoole's Arts Place in Quakerstown, Pennsylvania. The CD is the complement to a DVD version that has eight more songs (four from the Quakerstown concert and four more from a German gig). Wolfe, a native of Forest Hills in Queens, New York, is a blues-rock journeyman who has played on his own and backed other artists including Sheryl Crow. The set here displays his influences in an overt way. The main one seems to be Jimi Hendrix, whose playing is particularly recalled on "Cold Black Night," as the rhythm section sets up a pattern and Wolfe solos extensively over it. Jimmy Page's work with Led Zeppelin is recalled on "Roll Over," while "Black Hearted Woman" sounds like something Cream could have played. And Wolfe is not shy about sounding like a guitar hero of the late '60s; in case you missed the point, he concludes the Hendrix-like "Change Will Come" by quoting both Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" and Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile." As a singer, he resembles Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and his songs sometimes have the roadhouse blues sound of the Thunderbirds and Stevie Ray Vaughan. This is not, thus, innovative or particularly original music, but it is well-played blues-rock in an established tradition, and there is always an audience for that.
