That beacon of honesty, Michael Cohen, says he has more dirt on President Trump

In the Washington Post, Jeff Mordock reports,

President Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen says he has new information to offer Democrats if authorities reduce or delay his upcoming three-year prison sentence.

In a letter to lawmakers Thursday, Cohen’s attorneys say he has discovered substantial files on a hard drive that could help investigations of the president.

The hard drive is said to include over 14 million files, which consist of all emails, voice recordings, images and attachments from Cohen’s computers and phones, his attorneys Lanny Davis, Michael Monico and Carly Chocron wrote.

“To date, Mr. Cohen has located several documents that we believe have significant value to the various congressional oversight and investigation committees,” his attorneys wrote.

In exchange, Cohen is seeking for congressional help to persuade the Southern District of New York to allow him more time before reporting to jail so he can review the files. He is also asking for a reduced prison sentence while he “is fully cooperating with prosecutors and Congress.”

John Soloman writes in The Hill,

...I cannot recall in my lifetime a Congress re-summoning a witness who admitted lying to lawmakers for a hearing that afforded the fanfare provided to Cohen on Wednesday.

...Okay, so no Russian collusion. No trip to Prague. No direct instruction to lie. And no secret effort asking WikiLeaks to hack the Democratic National Committee.

Pretty good stuff … for the Trump defense team.

"Detestable and Despicable"

Now I have two new reasons to love the writing of Dov Fischer. He links to two very funny Seinfeld episodes!

But Fischer is not a fan of Michael Cohen. Fischer writes at the American Spectator that Cohen is "detestable and despicable."

Michael Cohen now has figured out the Avenatti hook: that there is fame and fortune in denigrating President Trump (as long as you don’t punch a woman in the face). But if he is looking to pin his corruption and decadence on someone else, he will not find the source of that evil in his payoffs to the pole dancer. Rather, the corruption lies within himself, dating well before he even started with Mr. Trump. He surreptitiously has audio-recorded clients. He has evaded taxes. He has made false statements to a bank to get a loan. He cashed a $350,000 check made out to him by a Russian hockey player with the cash to be passed along to the girlfriend of a Russian mobster. He has gotten himself into a morass with New York City taxi medallions to the degree that the Taxi and Limousine Commission demanded he sell all the medallions he owned within two weeks or have them revoked. Such a person cannot be trusted. Not a word. If his forthcoming three-year incarceration is to do him any good, he had best address his own inner demons and desist from pandering to a Left Media that seek out a new Avenatti, a new Omarosa every week, only to spit them out when the next flavor arrives.

Cohen gets three years in prison

The Daily Mail has a long article about today's verdict in the Southern District of New York in which Michael Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison. The Mail also has large photos and charging details of everyone else who has pled guilty so far in Mueller's multimillion-dollar investigation of alleged Trump collusion with Russia.
