Astron Liu’s name came from his childhood fascination with space. When classmates struggled to pronounce his given name, Yichen, his parents suggested “Astron,” a nod to the toys, books, and dreams that filled his world. The name stuck—and so did the curiosity. The Kearney team is wrapping up an energizing week at #CES. Want the inside scoop from the world's biggest tech stage? 5 insights every executive should pause on 👇 1. Speed is becoming the ultimate competitive advantage, and Asia is setting the pace. Some tech companies in Asia have gone from start-up to global scale in less than a decade. Their ability to experiment fast, empower young talent, and operate without legacy constraints is redefining what “time to scale” really means. 2. Another shift in AI is coming. What’s different now is how humans interact with machines. The rise of physical AI as the next big thing—where machines learn from what they see and do and respond in real time—marks a move beyond centralized data centers toward distributed, edge-based intelligence. Today’s robotics solutions are largely single-task focused, but the productivity upside is real, and so is the disruption, particularly for retail, customer service, and frontline operations. 3. Still, few have made AI core to the business. Many CEOs are using AI to shape their growth story, but ROI remains largely unproven. Leadership teams are still grappling with where to invest, what to build vs. buy, and how to govern AI to enable better decisions. 4. Trust is becoming the new currency on AI. It’s all about the data input to generate good enough output. It’s all about the right prompt. 5. The relevance of AI operations has not yet been recognized: things like corporate AI governance, agent access control matrix, agent live cycle management, ethics, and compliance. Thanks to our team on the ground for these perspectives! Stay tuned as we travel to Davos and examine how intentional AI architecture—rather than unchecked expansion—will define enduring value in the AI era. Carbon plates have changed the economics of running shoes. As Neil Callahan points out, carbon-plate trail shoes often cost 2x their non-plated counterparts. That price gap forces brands to answer a harder question than “what’s possible?” It’s “what does the customer actually value enough to pay for?” In Kearney PERLab (Product Excellence Renewal Lab)’s work with footwear brands, we see innovation decisions increasingly shaped by this tension: balancing advanced materials with affordability, durability, and real-world use cases. Sometimes the smartest innovation isn’t adding more technology but choosing the right amount: https://bit.ly/4pn6p71 Authors: Namrata Shah, Minesh Parikh, Yushi Ide, and Samina Sarwat

Women’s health remains chronically underfunded and under-researched, even though women make up half the global population. The result is slower scientific progress, missed innovation, and persistent gaps in health outcomes worldwide. At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Kearney alongside the Global Alliance for Women’s Health, will host a focused session on how to shorten the path from discovery to scalable impact called "Accelerating breakthrough innovation in women’s health." Building on the Prescription for Change white paper, the discussion will examine how to unlock innovation by addressing regulatory friction, reimbursement barriers, and system-level misalignment—and how stronger collaboration and aligned investment can close the gender health gap. Hosted by Paula Bellostas Muguerza, the conversation will feature perspectives from leaders including Elisabeth Staudinger, managing board member, Siemens Healthineers; Regina Dugan, CEO, Wellcome Leap; Shyam Bishen, Ph.D., MS, MBA, head, Centre for Health and Healthcare, member of the Executive Committee, World Economic Forum; Fiona H. Marshall, PhD, president, Biomedical Research, Novartis. Learn more and register your interest to attend Kearney’s Davos program at #WEF2026: https://lnkd.in/eBqUk5sD

Outsourcing is often treated as a solution. In reality, it’s a stress test. Weak operating models amplify risk, complexity, and cost once work moves outside the organization. Strong ones, by contrast, turn outsourcing into a tool for resilience, speed, and sustained performance. Our latest global executive AI survey highlights an important trend: as organizations significantly increase investments in AI, many are now focused on the challenge of translating that activity into sustained business impact. At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in #Davos, Kearney will unveil key findings from the survey, alongside insights from the AI-First Enterprises initiative led by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with Kearney. Join us in Davos as Michael Römer and Owen Tracey discuss how leaders can turn AI ambition into measurable value, with Christopher Wright, head of information technology and CIO, Nestlé; Dr. Sangita Reddy, joint managing director, Apollo Hospitals; Debra Bauler, chief information and digital officer, Dow; and Dr. Manar Al Moneef, chief investment officer, NEOM Investment Office. Design for X is often treated as a late-stage check. That is a mistake. Leading product organizations embed it early by clarifying the process, aligning stakeholders, defining decision rights, and using technology to support faster, better decisions in real time. When design for X is built into product development from the outset, teams move faster with fewer trade-offs and better outcomes: https://bit.ly/4jnlvbp Authors: Namrata Shah, Minesh Parikh, Cristina De Leyva, and Yushi Ide
