Round & Brown

Its all over

Yes, it is. Its over. The world cup that is. And to be completely honest, I’m not too happy about it. The teams that I’d wish had won didn’t. The bets I made mostly lost. The ball is just round and unfair. Spain, for all the superstars that they had did not play like they should have. Forgive me, but they truly didn’t deserve the cup. My favourite team were the Germans and as I had mentioned in my previous blog, had all the ingredients for a world cup winning team. Sadly they just didn’t pull it through in the semis. They truly disappointed me but I sincerely hope that they improve from the experienced gained and go on to win the world cup in Brazil. My favourite underdog was and still is Ghana. They played with confidence amidst all the pressure and I just enjoyed seeing them pass the ball around. Hopefully they would do well too.

That aside, my top players. The German number 7, Bastian Schweinsteiger. To me, he is just simply an awesome all rounded player. Good control that just dominates the midfield. The other guy is none other than Wesley Sneijder. He played well throughout the cup but lacked the finesse in the finals. Rumours are that he might just move to Manchester United for 25m. Hope that works out. Number 3 would be Kevin Prince Boateng for the skills and drive to give all out for his country and he is inked all over. There are others as well but I just can’t recall any of the names. Screw that.

And since the world cup is over, there would no more vuvuzelas. Thank the good Lord for that. But other thing that really annoys me is these stupid psychic animal predictors. Paul the fucking octopus and Mani the dumb parakeet. I hate that octopus more for making the correct predictions against Germany. But what is with all these predictions. Can’t these people just leave the game to be won on its own. Why do we need animals the predict the future when it is in our own hands to create? I hope the octopus turns up on the dinner plate and that dumb bird on the soup bowl.

Now since it is over, what else can we expect. Nothing much I would say. Life just goes on as it was before. Obviously, the Spain supporters would go on and on about how good they were and the media would hype about it for some time. For the players, it would just mean a much needed break from all the pressure and for those who shone on the world scene, might even open up opportunities to play for a better club and a better future. I would definitely miss the moments where we grab a few bottles and watch the games together even if we supported opposite teams. Every 4 years, the world cup does what it does best by bringing people together and from what I hear, it has certainly brought the host nation, South Africa together. What truly surprised me through out the 1 month period is that even the women around me have been showing a keen interest in football. Even though they support the better looking teams than the better playing ones, but none the less they are able to talk football along with the guys. That is something I’m not used to. My guess is this is God’s gift to men so that we can enjoy the beautiful game together. Cheers FIFA for not fucking up the world cup as much as you could.

Under Boob

I’m still bored. Its been 2 weeks since my exams ended and I’ve got nothing great or exciting to share with you. Life is pretty much just sitting around and stoning yourself till your eyes bleed out rat piss.

Remember the list of things to do that I mentioned in my previous post. Well nothing much has manifested from it except for that trip to the zoo. But even then, it was so fucking hot that day that most of the animals were just curled up in a shade some where in the enclosure which means that we were not able to fucking see them. Yes, we got burned in the sun to see plants and what looked like animal poop. The reptiles and snakes were pretty cool of course and being enclosed in an air conditioned building made sure that we could see them. Oh, did I mention that I love reptiles, snakes for the most. When I was growing up, I would catch those small garden lizards and keep them as pets. They usually last a couple of weeks before I release them back, alive mostly. Killed a snake once and caught a few while pretending to be Steve Irwin. God bless his soul.

Besides that, there was the 6th year graduation which made me pretty sad thinking that I’ve got 2 years till it is my turn. Damn. Hopefully time flies. For the most part, I’ve been sitting at home catching up on movies. It amazes me how I can sit for hours watching 3 movies a day. I know, its pretty lame. But its not too bad if you’ve got a few bottles to keep you company.

World cup quarter finals are in the way. And I’m sorry for the Brazilians but they just lost it against the Dutch. What a shame. 1-0 up in ten minutes of the 1st half only to go down with an own goal from F. Melo followed by a superb header from Sneijder in 2nd half. But I neither support the Dutch or Brazil. Don’t expect the Dutch to make to the finals and after last night’s game, I still don’t. I don’t fancy Brazil so much although they play good football. My new favourite team is Germany. Yeah, been eyeing them since the group stages and they’ve got all the potential. Awesome players, good team spirit and chemistry, fine tactics and technically really good. I would really shocked if they were to go out before the finals. And their playing Argentina later in the evening. Though I like Maradona’s men, my money is on Germany.

Talk about under boobs. Well, sorry to say but the blonds are yours and the brunettes are mine. Deal ? Cheers

A proper stuffing

Fuck yeah. I’m done with my exams for 4th year. And I’ve got a bit more than a month to enjoy life here with out any educational stress. But I must say, Neuro exam isn’t as easy they say it is. Its more taxing thinking about how to begin studying let alone studying it. There is so much and with so little time (as always). But with all things said, I did well though undeserving but what the hell, I don’t mind.

Isn’t it ironic whenever you’re studying you can find things to do, come across interesting websites and come up with plans to do after the exams but when it is actually time, nothing comes to mind and you sit like a stoned ape looking at your screen. Damn.

Ahh, the world cup is on. Yes, how could I forget about that. I was juggling between studying for exams and watching the world cup and naturally, world cup always won. So this year, its in South Africa. Interesting fact but I can’t confirmed its authenticity. It seems South Africa’s economy would take approximately 5-6 years to recover from investing so much money into the world cup. Screw the Africans. Lets talk football. The world cup is currently a bit more than a week old. Most of the team have played 2 matches and the opening rounds were pretty boring. Most of the expected team are playing unexpectedly and the minnows are doing pretty well. There were many shocking defeats and wins.

The worse was Spain with a team filled with superstars lost to the Swiss. Reminds me of Real Madrid, hmmm. Germany had a stunning first game only to lose in their second. I guess to compensate for the dull opening rounds, the second rounds were much better. And I’m pretty lost in who to support. I would go for Brazil but its too cliché. Spain surprised me so they lost my vote for the time being. Germans are pretty good. The French can fuck of along with the English. Don’t like Portugal, too cocky. The Dutch do play well but they usually never make it past the knock out. Argentina, unpredictable but awesome football. But no matter who wins the world cup, everyone will not forget the fucking vuvuzelas. Those stupid horns that the 30000 supporters should have stuff up the asses instead of blowing it. Its that annoying. Complains have been pouring from all over the world but FIFA can’t ban them cause its in the African culture. Balls to that. Africans are famous for singing and thats what they should be doing. Rumour has it that some of the horns have been selling well in England. And if they are gonna be blowing in the premier league then we are all fucked pretty bad.

DNC’s Number 9

I know this is gonna sound kinda vain and all but I just had to. I’m no superstar futsal player but I do know I’ve scored a few goals here and there (trying to be modest here). This is it. The video of my goals playing with Dru N’ Cos from 2008-2009’s RSMU Futsal League where I scored 12 goals leading to be the top striker then. All credit and fame for the video goes to LightofHeaven. Thanks man, really appreciate it. Cheers. The treble champions, DNC 4 Life !

Politics

Ahh, yes. Another week gone by and just like the previous ones, tiring. So they said ‘no rest for the wicked’ (balls !) Updates for the week. Paediatrics cycle just ended. Fucking ace.. What an awesome cycle that was. Classes start at 10 am and ends around 1, sometimes even 12pm. My teacher was like Barney, always smiling and sweet as a ‘gulab’, even looked like one. On the last day, she said that we were brilliant and her best group ever. I could laugh to that. However I did learned quite a bit though. But I don’t really fancy kids that much, especially the annoying, always crying little ones.

Jersey is here. Fuck yeah! Was waiting for it to come and finally it is. But damn was I nervous. Just before collecting them, I was crossing my fingers and begging God to let it be what we wanted. And it was, maybe even better. Based on some feedback, design was very good and colours turned out well. But as always, there is always a ‘but’. There were some complains from the girls side stating it was too big around the sleeves and a lil bit too revealing when the arms were lifted. I guess it just means another run to the shop to make alterations. Hope that goes smoothly. On the whole, from the smiling faces upon receiving, I got to say it turn out pretty awesome. Credit duly goes to 2 other guys were also in the jersey team, Botak & Lain-Lain. Good job guys!

The most important event or rather reason for this post is that I’ve decided to run for the Sports Bureau in the upcoming RMSA Elections. I never really felt the need to join or help out our student body officially before and to tell the truth I can’t really understand why now. But all I can say is that its time that I stepped out and take on some heavy responsibility. Sports Bureau can be the most hardest and highly criticized bureau around and I really hope I can handle it. I do have some issues which I would like to solve and ideas to share. Hope that goes well.

And the first comment that a friend gave me was ‘welcome to politics’. I just can’t stop smiling reflecting that. Looks like it is in a way true. I have finally entered the fragile yet crazy world of politics although its on a minor scale, it still is a stepping stone that build our nation. Long Live Sports For M2!!

Kings Of RSMU

So, this is it. The last week of the RFL 09/10 and DNC has done it again. We will be crowned tonight the champions for the 2nd time consecutively due to a walkover for the last game. I’m still trying my best to absorb the fact that it has finally came true. Compared to the last season where we went undefeated the whole season, this season was a lot more different. We had to claw our way back slowly and week by week we improved. It just made the victory a lot more sweeter. I just can’t wait to lift that new trophy. I believe deep down, that this is the best team that I’ve ever played for. The discipline, the commitment, the common bond, the friendship, the memories on and off the court that we have shared for the past 2 years has been amazing. No other team can or could emulate our success and the level of understanding we have amongst ourselves. It only seems like last week that we formed DNC and 2 years has just whizzed by. But sadly, like someone once said “all good things will come to an end”. It did, in a different way. This week would be the last week we would step in the court as DNC. As respect to one of our graduating team mate, we have decided to dissolve DNC. In the span of 2 years, we have conquered the league twice and a tournament. No doubt, in every DNC players heart will be the memories we shared and as we grow older, mentioned again and again. Call it whatever you want but we prove to everyone that it doesn’t just take skills to win, you got to have heart. And we did have heart, a lot of it. That is why we’re Dru N’ Cos and we’re the best there is.
