Thank you very much for your kind words, Liz Shoo. We really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and expertise with our participants. ✨

One of the things I’ve really loved over the past year is starting my role as a Media Trainer with DW Akademie. I mainly work with external participants who want to step up their media presence — whether that’s feeling more confident in interviews, getting their key messages across clearly, or simply appearing more natural and authentic in front of a camera or microphone. It’s been incredibly rewarding to support people as they sharpen these skills and find their voice in media situations that can sometimes feel intimidating. Plus, working with the fantastic DW Akademie team has been an absolute pleasure. Grateful for the trust, the exchanges, and all the learning along the way — and very much looking forward to what’s ahead! #MediaTraining #Interviews #CommunicationSkills Daniela Wiesler Leonie Rölle-Dahl

Disinformation touches all of us — but it doesn’t hit everyone the same way. Different age groups feel its impact differently. 🧒 🤵♀️ 🧓 The course "Increasing Media Literacy Among Elderly People" that was launched in fall 2025 by DW Akademie and the Ukrainian Media and Information Institute helps Ukrainian seniors distinguish truth from fiction - and allows them to navigate the internet safely. It is offered both on- and offline and takes a deep dive into social media culture, AI imagery and content, online deception and using a mobile phone to effectively communicate with others. ➡️ Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ePg-T3-6 #YearInReview

In November 2025, the world turned its eyes to COP30 in Belém, Brazil. It was a crucial moment for global climate negotiations. 🌿 🌏 The final text that was adopted calls for mobilizing at least $1.3 trillion annually by 2035 for climate action and tripling adaptation finance. But what happened behind the scenes? 🛥️ 🌴 Ahead of the conference, 100 Indigenous community media representatives, climate activists, journalists, and media trainers embarked on a unique journey through the Brazilian Amazon - from Santarém to Belém aboard the Karolina do Norte. This floating hub for workshops and ideas was chartered by PSA - Projeto Saúde e Alegria, a Brazilian NGO and DW Akademie partner, bringing together important voices for the climate conversation. #YearInReview #COP30 #ClimateAction #IndigenousVoices

For more than a year, independent journalists have covered anti-government protests in Serbia almost daily. At the same time, there was a record number of press freedom violations in that time, according to Reporters Without Borders (RSF). But journalists continue to report the news, day in and day out, sometimes suffering the consequences but determined to get the story and cover one of the largest grassroots movements in decades in Europe. #YearInReview Read more: https://lnkd.in/eAWPB4sX

Do you have any new year's resolutions? ✨🌈 One of ours is definitely to expand our work in Media and Information Literacy across the globe. #MILMonday A great source of inspiration for this is a MIL conference we held in Cambodia in the fall of 2025. More than 60 experts from civil society, media, business and government gathered in Phnom Penh to discuss youth empowerment against the growing threats of disinformation, hate speech and online fraud. #YearInReview To make things easier for you, we compiled ten practical tips for inclusive media and information literacy: https://lnkd.in/ehxCMcMr 🗣️ Tell us about your new years resolutions in the comments!

At the Ukraine Media Talk in October, frontline journalists in Ukraine had a chance to share their experiences with European policymakers. Their powerful words had a big impact, showing that local and regional media in Ukraine is more than an industry, but an essential service that Ukrainians and the rest of Europe rely on. #yearinreview

Last year, DW Akademie decided to open a new chapter 📘 - and hosted events around the world to explore solutions that safeguard journalism in the AI era. #YearInReview #TheNextChapter In Chiang Mai, Thailand, DW Akademie invited journalists and media experts from the region to discuss "Who pays for the news that powers AI and can public interest journalism survive when Big Tech profits from the work the media produces?" In Amman, Jordan, a Day Zero event at the ARIJ Network 18th annual forum brought together media professionals, policymakers, tech industry experts and civil society representatives to discuss questions related to the survival and future viability of the media sector, as well as digital rights in the age of AI. And in Mexico City, DW Akademie organized the event "The rules of the game must change!" Participants addressed the survival and future viability of the media sector in Latin America. 💫 And now? The discussion will continue this year, for example at our Berlin event "Breaking the news? Global perspectives on the future of journalism in the age of AI," with the aim to draw a roadmap for the future of journalism. So stay tuned! Correction: In Don Kevin Hapal's quote below, the correct term is "shoe-leather reporting."
