About

Welcome! Perhaps you fell upon this old blog accidentally, or maybe you found this corner of the internet because you are interested in ASD, ADHD and/or BPD? Whatever the reason, here you are. I admit, originally this blog was supposed to dedicated to uncovering and explaining why young girls (and women) are so often overlooked in the ASD community and how detrimental that can be to their lives.

But like all things, it has evolved.

This blog deals with my experiences as a person with various mental health conditions and health concerns raising children who also have a melange of mental health conditions and health concerns encompassing, but not limited to, ASD, ADHD, BPD, GAD, MDD, Celiac and Type 1 Diabetes. This blog is about me and my family. The nitty gritty stuff that might actually help others to understand the above conditions better, or at least the stuff that might just give you pause to relate. This blog is about me desperately trying to keep my ever waning sanity while raising my four amazing kids and watching them grow and evolve and adapt to this ever changing World.

My name is Keturah. What I am is a highly energetic person with about as many faults as I have good intentions. Diagnosed with ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder “Traits”, I am a ‘forever work in progress’ with a hyperfocus on anti-racist activism and a mission to leave this World at least a little better than how it was when I came into it.

Myself a child of a family strewn with many different types of mental conditions (ASD, Schizophrenia, Paranoid Schizophrenia, ADD, ADHD, Depression, GAD… (would you like some fries with that?), I often struggle to find the balance in what can be/is often considered a “label/condition/disorder/illness/curse” and what may simply be just another part of ones self. As a mother I struggle with raising my kids the right way and helping my daughter with ASD find her way in the World a little (if not a lot) better than I did.

Life and struggles are often as hard and honest as they are funny and cringe worthy. Consider this a potential learning experience and/or black comedy.

Take note: I am not apologetic.

Enjoy.

  2. Hi Caitlin, I really enjoy your blog! I especially appreciated your posts on name remorse and changing Phinneas’ name until you got it just right 🙂 I am in the process of doing the same for my 8 month old daughter… was wondering if you could share, how long did it take you to get used to the new name for your little guy? Thank you so much!
