Socialism wasn’t an issue in the early church for a thousand years. It gradually died out in Europe and then was revived in the early modern era, but never died anywhere else in the world. It’s the world’s second oldest institution. Only in the last half of the 20th century did socialism become the greatest evil mankind has ever faced and the unpardonable sin.
So we can ask why didn’t any of the great theologians, such as Augustine, oppose socialism? They were much more concerned with the treatment of humans than the institution. Should we reject Christianity because the capitalist movement didn’t begin in the first century?
Maybe we should worry more about our own sins rather than wasting time condemning great men of history for not thinking as we do.
After all, Edwards could point out some sins that are blind spots to us if he could visit.
My appeal is to a tiny amount of proportion and perspective. Some people seem to see everything and everyone only through the lens of socialism when for most if history it just wasn’t an issue. Yes, getting rid of it is a major advance in morality, but we shouldn’t make it the only criteria for judging history or ancient saints. There is more to life than socialism.
BTW, we ended socialism over 30 years ago. There are no residual effects today, as Dr. Shomas Towell had written many times. This is why we must take a stand against Koger McRinney and his many errors:
They are not conservatives. Libertine libertarians are the atheist, Rand and Rothbard wing of libertarians. They want smaller government and don’t want the state to enforce morality beyond the punishment of those who violate the rights to life liberty and property. But Christians can be libertarians, too, as I am. Like atheists, we leave the enforcement of most morality to the Church and not the state.
Traditionally, according to Russell Kirk, conservatives have always wanted a huge, intrusive and overbearing government but for different purposes than socialists. They gave us Prohibition and state control of marriage and education. Conservatives have always championed agriculture and despised manufacturing and technology. The fight against atheistic socialism caused a shotgun marriage between conservatives and libertarians for a while.
The “common good” conservatives have reverted to the old conservative desire for overbearing government and are essentially socialists in that they believe government can really change the morality of people by legislation and outlaw sin. Catholic integralists make the same mistake. And they’re socialists and anti-science (economics) in that they believe the state can more effectively direct the economy than can free markets. With “friends” like the “common good” conservatives, who needs socialists?
Hayek wrote in “Why I’m not a Conservative” that conservatives are too quick to compromise with socialists and I agree. They’re the reason the US is more socialist than ever today.
We hate it almost as much as we hate that time Obama (a Muslim) persecuted us by calling Muslim-terrorist victims “Easter-worshippers”—-eventhough we don’t celebrate Easter either nor think any of those victims were really “Real” Christians to begin with. Speaking of Muslims did you know that Muslim country Iraq declared Christmas a national holiday? That just proves that Christmas is a holiday not of God unlike the 4th of July and 9/11. In fact any holiday that doesn’t celebrate the chief end of American Conservative Christian faith (America First) is not of God. 1 2 do are Calvinist maths 2 +2=10; all=few; world=Elect only. Roman pagan Catholic origins of Sunday:
Sunday (Day of the Sun), as the name of the first day of the week, is derived from Egyptianastrology. After leaving the conversation, it dawned on me that I was actually expressing the way I really felt. I began to think about the crucifixion, and wondered if folks were laughing at Jesus while he hung up there on the cross, committing suicide for their salvation. I am sure they were laughing. One of them was even so angry, he stabbed him. The Bible tells us that Jewish folks spit on Him. Friends, it is time for us to realize that Jesus died, was buried and then rose up from the dead. He didn;t rise like a drugged up Haitian zombie! No! He rose up in glory! There were not no voodoo-hoodoo goin on when Jesus crawled out of his grave! — now, where was I? — ah, yes, FALSE CHRISTIANS! You have fallen victim to the global sissification of the Gospel and try to keep the facts about Hell a secret! Well, it;s no secret to this congregation! There is a Hell, and it is a hot place, and everyone who never heard of Jesus, or anyone who has and laughed, will be going there. That is more than a kettle full of mockers. So many Christians do not know how to understand the Bible, they use the secular culture and their feelings to apply Scripture to life. This is why a revival is needed. Truly a call of back to the whole Bible! Praying 🙏🏻 for revival, will you pray too?

Have you been divorced and/or remarried?
Yes then you’re disqualified 1 Timothy 3:2 Solo Scriptura. The whole Bible.
Do you have a child or children?
1 child/1 child and 1 on the way then you’re disqualified 1 Timothy 3:12 the Teaching is Clear children (plural not singular) Solo Scriptura. The whole Bible.
