A year of UFO busting

Image
If you read me regularly, you'll know that the big event that has marked this year for me has been put move from the UK back to France after 21 years. A major change that has required some planning and organising made quite difficult by the pandemic. And of course, moving after so long and after 16 years in the same house has required some serious decluttering in all areas, including sewing and crafting supplies. And of course while going trig my stash and boxes, I have unearthed a (large) number of UFOs in various degrees of completion. I had never really considered letting go of my UFOs until probably about last year. First I never thought anyone would be interested in some partly done projects from someone else. Well, I was wrong! So I took a good look at these projects that I hadn't touched for years before deciding if they realistically had any hope to be finished one day, and as a result were worth packing and moving with us. I posted on most of those throughout the yea...

Hearts galore

Another very old project... I will confess that I used to be a swap addict! The swap blocks were from before the high speed internet since they were made in 2006! The idea for this swap was to prepare some blocks with 3 raw edge hearts applique on top of each other. The hearts have an indent on the side and in the middle to be sliced up. This is a variation on the "bull eye pattern". After the blocks had been swapped, we were supposed to cut them in 4 (in half vertically and horizontally). Next step was to pick pieces from 4 blocks and assemble them together into a new heart. I had started rebuilding the blocks but not all of them. I even used some blocks to make photo album covers. I had made those in 2013 for the wedding of my son's favorite teacher and probably had one extra. You can read all about it here . When I found those blocks, I knew I would never do anything else with them so it was time to let them go and share the love. They have now found a new home! Celi...

Some little hearts for Valentine

Image
The theme for the Tuesday Archive this week is obviously Hearts and Love, what else? I have made this mini a long time ago (12 years exactly) with some lovely hearts for my cousin's 18th birthday but of course that was pre-blog time. I had hardly started to quilt at the time but I had a lovely pattern and used some fusible to applique the hearts, all in different fabrics (including organza). All the hearts were machine applique, some with metallic threads, and then I tried free-motion quilting around the hearts, how daring for a beginner! Linking to Tuesday Archive . Celine
