Face masks trials

Image
There are so many masks patterns and tutorials available online that it is hard to know which one to use. I made a few masks at the beginning of the lockdown with  Bijou Lovely's   pattern.  I then tried to make some shaped face covering with the pattern on the Big Community Sew website . I tried adults and kids size for these ones. My next try was the 3D masks using this youtube tutorial  by Bilikis Signatures. And while I was watching this tutorial, I found another one by Add Crafts which is shaped on the nose and more comfortable to wear. There is a pattern available with 4 sizes, I have tried size M for the girls and XL for my son and for us. To make all these different trials, I cut off my son's school shirts. They are all 100% cotton, and being white shirts, the collar becomes really dirty/used quite quickly. So it was nice to be able to reuse/recycle. Reusable make up removal pads

Image
Reusable, eco-friendly is trendy at the moment (and rightly so, there is so much unnecessary waste everywhere) that I also jumped on the trend. I saw some lovely ideas on IG that inspired me to make some too. Still with the idea of making things to make for the fair, I found some of my mini charm packs and bought some flannels that I cut in 2.5' squares, overlocked the 2 together all the way around and very quickly I had a little stack of make up remover pads. I also bought some very thin cotton muslin and pipping cord to make some little bags that can be used to store them or wash them in. And here we are 4 little bags of 5 pads. I hope they sell! Leaves are falling

Today was our quilting group annual exhibition. I have hardly gone to any of the meetings this year because I am a little bit busy at home so I didn't have anything to contribute for the actual exhibition. I finished my Linus quilt last night and gave it away this morning but I'll show you in another dedicated post! We also have a sale table at the exhibition and for that I contributed a few items including those lovely leaves. I used some of my scraps that I had sewn together for a block swap I never managed to be ready for. This time I used an old pair of jeans for the backing and a lovely piece of ribbons rather than the eyelet. I have sold a few but not all so I will probably list the few left in my Etsy shop which has been empty for far too long! Another good month for my OPAM too. Celine

Finished!

Finally I have managed to finish my TV bag this morning. I finished all the blocks yesterday and assemble the bag this morning. I have added an inside pocket for the remote and an outside one for the . It was fun to make and green too. I have used one pair of adult jeans and a piece of fabric I bought before without knowing what I'll do with it. I hope my son will like it too! OK time to finish packing and off we go! Have a nice week-end and see you next week! Celine
