An evening in London

Image
No sewing happened last night because I had an important dinner in London. I went into town straight after work so I had a couple of hours to kill before dinner time. My first stop was for my favourite shop in London: Liberty's. I love going there even just for a browse, it is such a fantastic building filled with lots of pretty (and oh so expensive!) stuff. I had time to browse and I even got my make up done while I was there so I could look the part for the evening! I went to the fabric and haberdashery department of course to try and find a little something for my Liberty of London swap partner. I also spent some time in MacCulloch & Wallis, another favorite in London. I was looking for some key fob kits but unfortunately they didn't have them. After another browse in John Lewis where there was a lovely Lego display I headed to South London, wondering whether to buy a new car on my way to the restaurant ;-) The dinner was very good and I spent a l...

Knitting and Stitching Show

Image
So today after work, I went to Alexandra Palace with my friend Isabel for the Knitting and Stitching Show. And of course, a show wouldn't be a show without a bit of shopping! To be honest because I had restricted time as I went mid-afternoon, I didn't really look at the exhibition but concentrated on the shopping part! But for once, I feel I have been quite restrained, I went with a shopping list and for once I almost kept to it! I bought this lovely unicorn fabric that I might use for the Happy Unicorn Swap or not! I bought these Christmas fabric with the intention of using them for the Jolly Swap I bought some yummy Liberty fabrics a cute Fairy Tale fabric that I might or might not use for the Fairy Tale swap some cute FQ and also some Britain fabric and ribbon that would make good little gifties for swaps. A good and reasonnable haul I think. Celine

Knitting and Stitching Show - Alexandra Palace

Image
I left work early today to go to the Knitting and Stitching in Alexandra Palace. I think I hadn't been for 3 years so it was nice to go back. They had a late evening ticket today valid from 3 to 7, perfect for me. I didn't go with a long shopping list but I wanted to try and find the supplies I needed to make an attempt at these lovely slippers . I was told they are easy to make even for a beginner (not sure about that but I should try!) I found some chunky wool (wool is not called worsted in the UK) in pink and purple and bought a crochet hook as well. Now I only need to be brave and try! But of course while I was looking for some supplies for my slippers, I found these cuties from Edward's Menagerie from Toft  and I couldn't resist buying the pattern book. There are just gorgeous. Now I have been told that they take about 5 hours to crochet. I am not convinced I can do it in 5 hours as a complete novice but I'll give it a try and let you know. (Photo from Toft ...

Finito!

This week-end, I finished sewing the binding on Big Boy Hungry Caterpillar quilt. I am really happy about how it turned out and Big Boy loves it, so does Baby Daughter. So Big Boy slept under his quilt for the first time last night and I know that I now need to make a bright quilt for Baby Daughter. That will be Maisy! On Friday I went to the Knitting and Stitching Show in Alexandra Palace with my friends. It was great (even though we only really had time to browse the shops) and of course I made a few purchase: a rug for my son, some wool to make a frilly scarf for myself and some for my Auntie as a Christmas present, a fingerless gloves kit for my other Auntie as a Christmas present, some Decopatch paper, some yummy ribbons, two patterns from Australia and of course some fabric to make a few clothes for Baby Daughter.
