To cancel or disable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on GitHub, follow these steps: 1️⃣ If You Can Still Access Your AccountIf you're logged in and want to disable 2FA, do this:
2️⃣ If You’re Locked Out & Can’t Access 2FAIf you lost access to your Authenticator app or backup codes, try these: 🔹 Use Your Recovery Codes
🔹 Use a Registered Device
🔹 Contact GitHub SupportIf you don’t have recovery codes or access to your authentication method:
3️⃣ Important Notes✔ After disabling 2FA, you can enable it again anytime. |

Please add this option back in. 2FA is quite secure but a hardware key is better so I'd like to remove the now weakest point of failure and only use the hardware key. I'm also stuck on the "Enabled" label like the guy above me |

I don't care about security, no one knows my passwords and in 20 years never once has anyone breached my accounts. I am only blocked from logging into thangs because of 2FA. They WILL NOT let you remove 2FA from some accounts. I had to go get my other phone so I couldn't access github for a week because of this stupid 2FA required method of using a seaparate device, which serves only this purpose of logging into github and I don't keep it with me. I don't have time for this. If someone really hacked my account they could have it, I would rather lose the account than be blocked out because of 2FA. If that phone is lost I'll be locked out for good. |
