I can't change my billion information

Hi everyone,

This happened to me when I wanted to buy copilot in billing information.
"Sorry, you can't update your billing information at this time
We are sorry, but after reviewing we have determined that the billing information supplied is ineligible for transactions with GitHub due to government restrictions."

I filled in the wrong information before, and I couldn't change it when I wanted to. I'm in Singapore and I don't understand why there are restrictions here.

It looks like this error is related to GitHub’s billing and sanctions checks, not specifically to Copilot itself.

A few things you can try:

1. Double‑check your billing details

   • Make sure your country / region and address are correct and really match where your bank/card is registered.
   • If you previously entered wrong information, try removing that payment method and adding it again with the correct data.

2. Check GitHub’s restrictions and billing docs

   • GitHub blocks payments from some countries, regions or entities because of US/EU government sanctions.
   • Even if you are physically in Singapore, your card issuer or billing address might be associated with a restricted region or bank.

3. Contact GitHub Support

   • Go to https://support.github.com/ and open a ticket under Billing & payments.
   • Include:
     • The exact error message
     • Your country (Singapore)
     • A screenshot of the billing page (without showing full card number)
   • They can check on their side if it’s a sanctions/verification flag and tell you exactly what to change.

4. Try an alternative payment method

   • If possible, try another card or payment method with a different bank to see if it passes the eligibility checks.

Unfortunately this isn’t something users can fully fix from the UI; GitHub Support is usually the only one who can confirm why your billing information is considered ineligible and how to resolve it.
