Hi,

I’m experiencing an issue with my GitHub account verification flow.

I have a verified academic email address ending with @edu.hse.ru, which belongs to
National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE), Moscow.

However, GitHub automatically associates this domain with “HSE Lyceum Perm”, which is
a different institution and not where I study.

Because of this misclassification, I’m unable to proceed with the verification flow —
the “Continue” button remains disabled, and there is no option to correct the institution
or submit the form manually.

I’ve already:

• verified my academic email
• enabled 2FA
• confirmed account ownership

This appears to be an issue with domain-to-institution mapping rather than user input.

Is there a way to:

• reset the verification flow, or
• manually select the correct institution, or
• escalate this as a domain mapping issue?

This is a known issue with GitHub Education's automatic institution detection, when multiple institutions share a domain, the system can map it incorrectly.

Since the verification flow is blocked and you can't manually override the institution, you need to contact GitHub Education directly:

Contact GitHub Support:

1. Go to support.github. com/contact
2. Select "Other" or "Account" as the category (don't use "Education" — it blocks manual requests)
3. In your message, include:
   • Your academic email: [email protected]
   • Correct institution: National Research University Higher School of Economics, Moscow
   • Incorrect auto-mapping: HSE Lyceum Perm
   • Explain the "Continue" button is disabled due to wrong institution mapping
   • Request manual verification or domain mapping correction

If your institution provides:

• An official student portal with a different email domain
• Dated enrollment documentation (student ID, transcript, enrollment letter)

You could try applying with those instead, though the email route should work once the mapping is fixed.

GitHub's system maps domains to institutions automatically. When @edu.hse.ru is shared across HSE entities, it sometimes picks the wrong one. Support can either manually verify you or flag the domain for remapping.
