Invoices for copilot

I am trying to get an invoice for my Github copilot billing which I need for tax purposes
when going to the "Billing and Plans" section of my Github settings all I can get are payment receipts and not invoices

Is there a convenient way to get an invoice or am I doomed to make do with receipts?

I got a receipt, I filled in all the required information on my settings page and there is no way to get an invoice.
How can we request that?

Hi All,

We don't provide invoices as such for individual accounts, but you can add information to payment receipts, such as a company name, address or VAT number, which can help in meeting local accounting requirements. Here's a handy guide on how to do so:

Adding information to your receipts

Once you've added the extra information, you can download new copies of past receipts (all of which will now include the new information) by following the instructions here:

Viewing your payment history and receipts

If VAT is 0%, could GitHub explicitly mention it? So users don't spend time trying to register it as a professional expense.

+1, a receipt is not an invoice. In the EU we need invoices as @vdsbenoit stated.

@Akash1134 I'm rather shocked the 2.5y later GitHub are still sending out these non-compliant receipts rather than proper VAT invoices as @vdsbenoit clearly outlined in their comment. I see something has now been added to Enterprise to allow a slightly improved version to be downloaded by why aren't you just emailing out a proper one as standard?

I can't find an invoice anywhere either. I need it to get reimbursed by my company, having subscribed to Copilot with my personal account.
OK scratch that. I finally received a receipt in my primary email (with a long delay, which is fine).
Heads up to others - it seems that GH is applying a sort of pro-rated charge.
I subscribed for 1 year which is $100 (from Aug 26, 2022 to Aug 26, 2023) but the bill shows the service is paid thru May 11, 2023. They also charged $70 instead of the full $100. I suspect (but don't remember exactly) that May 11, 2022 is the day I received my Copilot invitation. So it tracks that the remaining ~3.5 months from May 11 to Aug 26 represents the $30 difference.

Contact github support about this issue, and they will send your past invoices. They will also toggle a feature on your account that will get you future invoices. It still doesn't contain VAT but it has your tax number, address and invoice number which hopefully will be sufficient. It was also really fast support, I sent the email in the evening and got a response the next morning.

With that said it's ridiculous that we have to specifically ask for this instead of having it done automatically...

There is a contradiction on this invoice: it says "VAT is included in the sales price when and where applicable" so $10.00 should be inclusive of VAT - but also says "customer should account for the respective VAT reverse charge". So which is it GitHub?

Sounds like this will be a standard feature for all users at some point, but they're still rolling it out.

Well, I managed to find Invoices under the Payment history, but they don't have VAT number and they are titled 'Receipts' (even though they make multiple references to being Invoices).
It still seems a bit of a mess.

Seems that invoices are now there in payment history. But broken, the data from https://github.com/settings/billing/payment_information is not used, only the username and ZIP.

There's progress apparently. Now there's a separate button to download invoices, but the invoices are just empty files. Can't they just use github copilot to implement the feature. Does it really need to take 3 years for a company like Microsoft to implement invoicing in github?
