IB♥L3D
IB♥L is a short duration project, designed to surge sewing, knitting and quilting supplies into Central Iraq. It works for a few reasons, not the least of which is the role volunteers play in making and sending bundles of raw material through the US Postal System to military locations in Iraq, for distribution by Iraqi Security Forces to places and people in need.
IB♥L3D is the year-long effort to surge much needed supplies into Baghdad and Anbar provinces, as US Forces draw down and prepare to depart, and as Iraqi Security Forces continue in their efforts to provide the security and stability needed to protect the lives of all Iraqis.
IB♥L3D started in 2011 with a 500 bundle surge into Baghdad, in conjunction with the American brigade assigned there. The bundles were matched with other goods, like backpacks of school supplies for the kids, for distribution into some particularly troubled areas in and around the city of Baghdad.
This second chapter of IB♥L3D was surging supplies into Anbar province, into and around the city of Fallujah. The third chapter, well, that’s pushing some love into Afghanistan. Variety, it turns out, is the spice of live.
If all goes well, there will be one more surge of bundles, in June and ahead of Ramadan (August). Stay tuned.

I’m ready to start packing my box … I just need to know your suggestions of what sewing supplies to put in it (besides fabric). And what is the “reduced” price for the box: $12.50 or $12.95. The Post Office here in Gettysburg doesn’t seem to know. (The regular rate for that size box is $14.95.)
