What do you do after racing up the stairs in the tallest structure in Las Vegas? YOU CLIMB SOME MORE!

My Scale the Strat experience was phenomenal (read my recap here), but Las Vegas is home to a plethora of tall buildings, most of them hotels. And you didn’t hear this from me, but Read the rest of this entry »

Wanna see a picture of a man pushing himself to his absolute physical limit?

I was about four steps from the finish line of Scale the Strat when this photo was taken. And those four steps hurt. Every part of my body hurt. What you’re looking at is Read the rest of this entry »

My big Parisian adventure is about six weeks away, but the Eiffel Tower race isn’t the only one on my calendar. I’m criss-crossing the western United States before and after I go to France, and I need your help!

I’ve signed up for FOUR Fight For Air Climbs. All these events are hosted by Read the rest of this entry »

I’m talkin’ about ROLLER COASTERS! The night before the big Scale the Strat race, my friend Tavi and I met Tavi’s friend Sarah for dinner, then we headed over to New York, New York to ride The Roller Coaster.

It used to be called Manhattan Express, but now it’s The Roller Coaster. It’s 203 feet high, hits 67 mph, and goes upside down twice, all while Read the rest of this entry »

On Sunday, I competed in Scale the Strat, the annual race up the stairs of the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas. Here I am, a few steps away from the finish line, 1,391 steps above the Las Vegas strip!

I tend to get nervous before all my races, and I like that. It’s a reminder that these events are important to me. But I felt differently before Scale the Strat: the nervousness was at higher-than-usual levels… and was paired with an impending sense of dread. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s only been a few days since my final race of 2015, and I’m already looking ahead to 2016. I binged the other day and signed up for SEVEN races between January and April. One of them will be in a skyscraper I’ve never raced before. Anyone know what building this is?

I’ll share more details in a second, but first: this will likely be my last post until after Christmas. I leave tomorrow night to spend the holiday with my family, but I’ll be back, between Christmas and New Years, with lots to share. Wishing you all the greatest of holidays – and stay healthy! Look, it’s me and my dad!

This photo was taken last week, when I went to Las Vegas to visit my dad, who was there for a conference. We stayed at the Paris Hotel and Casino, where I completed a kick-ass workout in the stairwell (read about it here). This post is about everything else!
The last time I wrote extensively about Read the rest of this entry »

You know what feels really good? When something that used to absolutely terrify you is no longer scary. In less than two weeks, I’ll be competing in my toughest stair climb race yet, the San Diego TowerTHON. It’s a two-hour endurance event, and I’ve never raced for nearly that long. To be quite frank, it scares the shit out of me (pardon my French). Well, it used to scare the shit out of me. It doesn’t anymore, and I can thank… a quick trip to Paris. Paris, Las Vegas!

I went to Las Vegas for 36 hours last week to Read the rest of this entry »
