About Background

About

PlanetNix 2026 is a two-day conference for people building things with Nix: solo devs, open-source contributors, and teams using Nix in real production environments.

We’re gathering in Pasadena (co-located with SCALE 23x) for talks, workshops, and lots of hands-on learning. Expect practical content: how people build and ship with Nix, how they debug it, how they onboard teams, and all the magical, brilliant stuff Nix gets used for.

FAQ

What is the Community Table CFP? Who should apply to exhibit at PlanetNix?
The Community Table CFP is an application-based opportunity to exhibit a Nix-related open source project or technology at Planet Nix — at no cost. We’re looking for teams or individuals with something concrete to show (demos, tools, workflows, or live projects) who want to spark technical conversations, share their work, and get feedback from a highly engaged Nix audience. Exhibitors are selected by the PlanetNix organizing team based on relevance to the Nix ecosystem, quality of the submission, and contribution to a vibrant event space. Accepted exhibitors receive a table with power and inclusion on the PlanetNix website; any additional AV or special requirements are handled by the exhibitor. You can apply here.
How to sign up?
PlanetNix is part of the SCALE conference. Either a full SCALE Pass or Expo Pass will provide entrance to PlanetNix.
Do I need to prepare anything?
As you prepare for the event we'd like to encourage all attendees to download any important repositories to their local machines and prepare their API-Keys beforehand as we will get rate limited by some organizations. The Nix manual shows how to configure nix to use with access-tokens. For GitHub for example we recommend a fine-grained token with no extra account permissions, as it will be only used for authentication purposes.
I am interested in helping? What can I do?
We are actively looking for volunteers for before, during and after the event. If you are interested, please reach out to [email protected]
Will there be video recording?
Yes, you can view the livestream on the SCaLE Youtube Channel.
This website is broken! Can I fix it?
What is a Unconf?
An Unconference is all about you taking the lead. No predetermined schedules or set topics. Have a burning question or exciting idea about Nix? Grab a group, snag a table, and dive into the conversation. This is your time to connect with like-minded individuals and discuss whatever you're passionate about.
