Please support the American Clean Energy and Securities Act of 2009

September 22, 2009

Johnny Goodwin, a good friend of mine is putting together a letter writing campaign in support of the American Clean Energy and Securities Act of 2009 He will be hand delivering all the letters himself so lets make sure he needs a few boxes and some help to get it done.

Please show your support for Clean Energy Legislation by writing a short letter to either Senator Jim Webb or Mark Warner asking them to support the American Clean Energy and Securities Act of 2009 and why you think it is important that America starts the shift to Renewable Resources and Cleaner Energy Technologies. We are trying to put caps on carbon emissions, give companies tax credits that “go Green” and bring 1000s of jobs to VA in a new Green Economy. So I urge you to encourage your Senator to support this Bill in the next meeting of the Senate by emailing your letters to:

A new freshly inked page from Alligators In The Air. It’s a favorite of mine.  Although seeing it onscreen is really helpful as there are a few lines that needed touching up in the thickness department.

Beatuprat Vessel

July 25, 2009

BTP_ShipThis is a space ship from Punch Hug.  The main deck consists of a glass dome that functions as both observatory and as a multitouch interface with the ships main computers. Below deck are the Judicial Chambers where the bureaucrats bureaucrat.  Below are two decks of private chambers for the captain and crew. Below is the mess Hall and below that is the entertainment hall.  Above and behind mess is the engine room.  In front are the observatory pods for BTP’s to take data from the planets they investigate.  This is an early design and will most definitly change before it is finalized.  I still need room fro the scientists on board to deal with samples and other sciencey things.

The Portable Frank

July 19, 2009

I just bought this from Velocity Comics here in Richmond.  Amazing.  I rarely read comics mostly because I am both lazy and poor when it comics to literature.  But worth every penny and a lot more time than it took to read.

Check out the video preview below:

Alligators In The Air Research

July 18, 2009

So I’m working on a new 32 picture book.  It’s about a hot air balloon ride around the world and requires a ton of scenery.  Problem is I am terrible at Background and scenery.  Take a look at Baby Dragons and you’ll see how much i avoid it.  Not drawing tha background as a point of style is one thing but I don’t want to avoid because I can’t do it.  So it’s back to school for a few days researching the greats and their techniques.  I’ve been looking at Walt Kelly’s Pogo, Craig Thompson’s Goodbye Chunky Rice, and a book on inking by Peter Martin? Gary Martin. I can’t remember his name and can’t find the book right now. *edtit* it was under my laptop.  OF course I also spent a while on google images.  If I was really serious I’d get out of teh house and go into the country and start drawing the real stuff.  But I have to do some work that pays today.   *sigh*

A tree largely based on Kelly's spectacular backgrounds.

First attempt at copying Walt Kelly.

Trying to learn how to deal with water. The texture is made with the contrast between the lights and darks which I rarely use in ink.
