Fall Fun progressive Challenge

I had a bit of time to create a card today using the Designed2Delight free digital image that I received for using last week's image.
I colored the image with Copic markers and cut it out with Nestabilities 21.  The sentiment is from McMahon Five Designs. I purchased a fall floral stem and plucked off all of the flowers- they are really pretty fall colors. I added a SU button in the center of the flowers.

Seek His Light- Tim Holtz Tag #1 and a couple of cards

I wanted to try to make the Tag(s) Tim Holtz is making- 12 Days of Christmas- I started on Day one (12/1)....and have just finished Day one.....yikes- I am a little behind!  I decided to try the technique on more than one kind of paper- 1)Manilla Tag (that is what Tim uses), 2) Regular white tag, 3)Top Note Die in Whisper White (SU).   I do not know why, but my Manilla Tag looks green not blue- so I threw it out (looks like tornado weather- could not see making anything else with it).  Tag #2 was made on a plain White Tag that I rec'd from a Secret Sister swap on SCS.  This is the first tag on my blog today.  I love the way the Rock Candy Distress Crackle looks IRL- it is a great background and shimmery too. I do not have the stamps Tim was using on his blog so I substituted and used stamps from Firecracker Designs by Pamela.  The Shepherd Snowman and sheep are from a new set released this year- I was thrilled- I was wanting to make Christian themed cards- at least for relatives- and I have alot of relatives!  The set is called Shepherd Snow Family- you can see it here. The snowflakes are from FCD sets Love Never Melts and Let's Celebrate.  The swirl in the BG is from Innovative Stamp Creations set Art4framesII.

This tag qualifies me to enter the following challenges:
IncyWincy Designs- Snowflakes
Stamp Something-glitzy somethings
Pink Elephant- Your Favorite Christmas Color- BLUE!
Pile it on- Tinsel Town-Glitter
Copic Creations- Snow/Snowpeople
Creative Card Crew- Christmas

I used Copic markers to color in the Snow Shepherd and family on the tag and cards.  I used the following colors:
B21, B23, B24, B26, Bvoo, E0000, E000, E00, E31, E33, YR07, Y13, C2, C3, R20, R22, R24, R27

I did not have the Rock Candy Stickles, so used Crystal Ice Stickles and for the star I used yellow stickles also by Ranger on the star and the lantern. I mounted my Top Die Tags onto CS to make a card out of them- used colors from the Bg for the Purple- that is Eggplant Envy (retired SU).

For this card, I decided to try Brilliant Blue- too much of the same- so I took a piece of Yo Yo Yellow and did a Technique called Cuttlebug Highlight- that really made the yellow 'pop' on the card.

Just in case you have not seen the link to Tim Holtz 12 days of Christmas Tags, here it is on his blog.  Dang, I want a job like his!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

MoJo Monday on Friday

I found this Fairy image-same as in my prior post- on a website by artist Phee McFaddell- intended as a coloring page- look here for the site and to check out her beautiful artwork.  My Mother loves Fairies, so I just know she will love this Poinsettia Fairy, so I decided to make her Christmas card with this image.
Here is the sketch for this week for the MoJo Monday Challenge that I used for this card:
And, here is my card for the MoJo Monday Challenge week 115

Close-up of the card- can you see the Angel Wings shimmerz on the fairy wings?  That is available for purchase from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. You can also see the small poinsettia flowers popped up on dimensionals. The Copic marker colors are in the next post- I also cut out one of the fairies and made an ornament for my Bloggers Challenge. The DSP is Basic Grey Figgy Pudding.

Other challenges this card fulfills:
Cupcake Craft Challenge- for Red and Green
Pink Elephant- Favorite Coloring Tool
Incy Wincy- Red and Green
Corrosive Challenge- red and green
2 Red banana's- Christmas card
365 Cards Day 275- Red and green

This is a set called Christmas Phrases from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. It has become my go-to set for so many of my cards for Christmas Phrases- and it is so reasonably priced- just $8.99 for all of these wonderful stamps!

I also want to let you know that Pamela at Firecracker Designs is having a Blow Out Sale for Christmas- here are the details:

This has been a really hectic week for me- as I am sure it is with everyone.  I worked a bit extra at the hospital, and my daughter started basketball.  It is so cool- this year she plays in the big gym with the announcers and music during breaks and all- and her name is up on the scoreboard (as is the entire team).  She is on the JV team, so she plays and then is required to stay and watch the varsity team as well.  My husband is a basketball ref, so he can tell me all about what is going on if I do not know what a call is...........

I hope you are all having Blessed preparations for Christmas and Baby Jesus' Birthday!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Bloggers Challenge ; Christmas Ornament

The challenge this week for the Bloggers Challenge was to make an ornament or a Holiday decoration.  I have a zillion ideas of things to make- and this is nothing close to what I had planned.........
I found this image on the internet at a website where it is an image- I believe intended for a coloring page.  The artist Phee McFaddell  has a website where you can view her images- Here is the Link .
I used the Pendant Nestability, cut out Silver Metallic and chipboard for the BG.  The image is colored with Copic markers and the wings are colored with Shimmerz.  Copic Colors are:
E000, E00, E31, E33, E35, E37, Y13, Y21, Y26, YG06
R02, R20, R22, R24, R27, R29, R39
I am not really a fairy person, but like this Poinsettia Fairy- and plan on sending it and a Christmas card I made with the image to my Mother (and Father)- who will absolutely love this!  I will post the card later today after errands.......It is up...here is the link to the blog post with the card.

This ornament is  a sample of 'smocking' that I mention on occasion.  It is made with a piece of satin material put through a gear mechanism called a pleater- it has needles threaded with strong thread (like quilting thread) that gathers up the fabric.  Then, I use needle and thread to stitch designs in the pleats.  The top is closed with what we smockers call a spider web. The ornaments can be made in a multitude of fabrics and colors- and on some I add beads to really glitz them up.  It takes me an evening or two to make one of these after the fabric is pleated- it is mindless-as long as the design matches up when you get to the end of a row........

You can click on the Bloggers Challenge Logo on my sidebar to view other Bloggers Christmas Ornament or Holiday Decorations.

Do You See What I See? And Blog Candy

I am really enjoying crafting with this stamp set- I really love this Snow Shepherd that is looking up to the sky-seeking His Light!

I repeatedly masked and stamped the sheep for the BG. I outlined the sheep and highlighted them with Copic marker W1, and the panel sponged with Close to Cocoa.  The stamps are from Snow Shepherd from Firecracker Designs by Pamela- the words Do you see what I see were stamped for the panel on the Rt. It is matted on Bordering Blue CS by SU that is sponged with ink and distressed.
Then, the Snow Shepherd is stamped and colored with Copics:
Skin: E000 and E02   Arms E11, E31 and E33   Carrot for a nose-YR07
Star Y13  and the Shepherd's clothes: B21, B23, B24
Outlining and grounded by C0 and C2

I stamped the star on the lightpole and cut it out carefully. It is colored (Y13) and covered with stickles.
The image is outlined with Bordering Blue and I used the Torn Frame technique from the Technique Junkies.

OK- now on to the Blog Candy- I have a set of 6 Cuttlebug Folders from the Home Shopping Network to give away- leave a comment by Friday 11/27 at 8PM.  If you tell a friend and they mention your name when they leave a comment, I will put your name in for another chance to win.

Please leave me an e-mail address to contact you- and you will have until Sunday PM at 8PM to send me your snail address.

MoJo Monday Sketch 110

I have a huge pile of cards I need to make, so I took this opportunity to follow the MoJo Monday sketch. One of the cards I need is a card for a Baby Girl- Oh how I love lace and ribbons and sewing on cards!
The base CS is from a stack I purchased at Joann Fabrics called the Luxury Stack- it has a beautiful sheen on it. I used a piece of Whisper White and used a  Zig-Zag to put the pink Luxury Stack on the card front. I use a piece of Eyelet lace for the left side strip, and sewed it on with a Zig-Zag stitch. I used Basic Grey Bittersweet for the DSP. The word is from Hampton Arts. The little baby in the basket is C-1994 Rock-a-bye Baby by All Night Media. The BG scallop is a nestability with Ruby Red SU CS.
The image is colored with Copic markers. I used a Sakura Gelly Roll pen t.o add highlights to the stars above the sweet baby girl and hanging down from the basket.
The final touch is double sided Pink Satin ribbon by Offray- it is heavenly to touch and looks so pretty on the card. I added a Dew Drop to finish off the card.

Featured Stamper Rachel Hope and Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential

Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential has a challenge this week for making Treat bags for the Holidays. I discovered this after I started looking in the Resourse area at Splitcoaststampers looking for a 2-4-6-8 bag to CASE Rachel Hope, who is this week's Featured Stamper at Splitcoast . I could not find the exact tutorial I wanted, but came across this cute tutorial for Cammies Triangular Treat Bag.

Apparently, I get easily distracted, because the next thing I know, I was cutting strips of CS and making triangular bottoms to fit them........  I used the Pawsitively Frightening  stamp set by Firecracker Designs by Pamela to dress up the front of these little boxes.  I stamped the images and sentiments with Tuxedo Black memento Ink and colored them with Copic markers.  I stamped the Cat's head and witch hat again, and popped it up on dimensionals- do you like the 'Out of the Box' look with the cat?
For the second box, I stamped the Caldron and topped it with the sentiment.  It is also colored with Copic markers. I took purple and Pumpkin CS and put it through the crimper for the inside of the treat bag. I used a rectangular punch and used $1.00 ribbon from Joann that is double sided orange and black with stitching on the edges.

Sweet Dreamers Blog Challenge: Use an Animal on your Christmas card

What a fun challenge- I have tone of stamps with animals on them.  This one is one of my favorites- I used Copics to color it in- my first time  since I did not have Copics until Christmas of last year!  This stamp is copyright 1992, so one of the first I purchased.
I stamped the mice in Black Tuxedo Memento Ink, and colored the image in with markers.
I am going to post my marker colors here- just for my future reference:
RV29, RV32, C0,C2, C3, B02, E0000, E00, E02. YG17, YG06 and Sakura Gelly Roll Pen for the glittery effect.
The technique is called AI Foil by the Technique Junkies Aug Newsletter.  The CS is Stampin Up retired pacific Point.  The Stamp is by Embossing Arts.

Paper Roses

I have in hand the new TJ newsletter, and had a bit of fun trying the technique Embossed Crayon resist for the second time.  I really love floral stamps so much, so I chose to use these pretty Roses with the leaf background.
The Roses are by Firecracker Designs by Pamela, and the set is called Paper Roses which is a set with a large rose, 3 smaller roses, leaves, baby's breath and a few sayings.  I think for $8.99 it is a real steal!  There are so many possibilities.......
I stamped the roses in Versamark, and embossed them with Gold EP.  I colored them in with Copic markers R81, R83 and R85- very beautiful colors IRL!  I put them on dimensionals.
I spritzed the BG with the CB embossing with Blue Slies Glimmer Mist.
What could be better than Pink, Blue and Glimmer?  I just love the combination.  I did not feel I could add ribbon without distracting from the Roses, so I added a one more element to finish off the card- piercing in the upper Lt and Lower Rt corners.
Card Stock is Old Olive and Temp Turquoise from SU.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoyed my card!

1st ever Blog Candy! and Sweet Dreamers Blog Challenge #9-Aly's Sketch Challenge

10 year old Aly loves to stamp.  Her Mom let her post a Blog, where she posts a sketch challenge every other week- and each participant has the chance to win  Blog Candy. So, I decided to really celebrate World Card Making Day, I would offer additional Candy- and this is my first ever blog candy- for anyone who finds my post and participates in Aly's challenge.

First, this is the sketch Aly drew (above....pretty challenging for a 10 yr old if I may say so myself!).  Below is my interpretation of the sketch this week- which is also a challenge for our SCS Sweet Dreamers Blog group- to participate in the sketch.

Deets for my card:  I remade a previous card!  I found appropriate DSP to use- I have been using lots of DSP lately- this is by Basic Gray.  I set out the DP for the challenge, and chose Ruby Red as the matching card stock.  I cut out my image using Nestabilities circle and scalloped circle.  The image is Hello Friend  which is made by Firecracker Designs by Pamela.  I used the marker Watercolor technique on the main image, and she has flower soft added on her hairband (also from Firecracker Designs by Pamela).  I added the ribbon and the flower to complete the Sketch Challenge.

Now, the below 'Candy' can be yours by:
1)Participate in Aly's Sketch Challenge
2)Go to Aly's blog
and post a link to your card.
3)Come back to my blog and leave a comment, with a link to your card made with Aly's Sketch. (Please make sure I have a way to contact you- leave an e-mail address).
4)Post your card on Splitcoast if you have an account and with a link to my post or Aly's sketch post, then leave me your Member name (aka mine is mcschmidty) in your comment, and I will add your name in for a second chance to win.
5)There is one more week of Aly's Sketch- so a random number will be chosen NEXT Sunday, October 11th  from those that leave a link with a sketch to a card on Aly's blog.  You also have a chance to win Aly's 'candy' as well.

There are 5 Studio G stamp sets here and one small spool of double sided ribbon.

I will ship internationally as well-so please pass the word.

Thanks for encouraging the creativity of a young child!

FCD Blog Hop -Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to the first Firecracker Designs By Pamela Blog Hop for Design Team 04! This month's theme is "Greetings & Salutations." We were asked to create any piece of art using our FCD monthly set that focused on this theme.

**********************************

The official start time of this Hop is Friday, September 18, at 8:00 AM (EST). If you arrived early, please be patient as all the links may not be live yet.

My sweet set is this little girl and her kitty, and includes sentiments, Hello, Purrfect , Friend, a ball of yarn and a footprint. I have been having fun with this set- for the blog hop, I used my Stampin Up markers and an Aqua painter using a technique called marker watercolor. I stamped the image on watercolor paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
I tried Flower Soft for the first time on this card on the little girls Pony Tail holder. It is so simple and easy to apply! I ordered the Floral Bouquet Sampler-which has 7 jars of flower soft included.
For my card layout, I used a tutorial from the Technique of the week on Splitcoaststampers called Recessed Window Frame .
I altered the size of the opening to fit the stamp by using the measurements in the post, and just making the middle opening the size of the opening I needed. I drew a line corner to corner (top left to bottom right, and top right to bottom left), drew in the 2nd line outside of the (picture) opening line and cut slits on the lines. (Gardendiva has pictures from Feb 2 if you need visuals- here is a picture of the cuts required).
This is a “circular blog hop” where the only beginning is wherever you start!! You will know you are at the end of your blog hop when you’ve come back to the blog you’ve started from! (It’s not a huge circle…so it should be easy to remember where you started.). Please leave messages on the blog posts- you may WIN a prize Pamela is offering on a "Mystery Hostess" blog.
The winner will be chosen from a mystery blog hostess that will be announced when the hop is over…so that’s why you’ll want to leave a comment on EVERY blog, so you don’t miss out!
**To find out if you’ve won… you will be contacted by Pamela via e-mail (so be sure to leave it with your comment.) and you can also find out on Pamela’s blog after the blog hop ends on Mon, September 21, at 8:00 PM (EST).**
Now, to continue the circle, you will need to hop on over to Tesa's blog and keep going until you’ve come back to where you’ve started!
Thanks so much for playing along with us and we hope you have a great time!

Sweet Dreamers Blog Challenge #6-Share a Hug

I wanted to make a sweet card for the little girl in the following post to satisfy the Sweet Dreamers Share a Hug challenge. My stamp set that I will be showcasing for Firecracker Designs by Pamela is a very sweet set and just perfect for this challenge. I set out to make a card that a little girl would love- I stamped the image, cut it out using the Stampin Up Big Shot Die called the Top Die Note, cut around the perforated edges and cut out a coordinating paper to mat it. I found the DP first- and some glorious Organdy ribbon at Archivers to coordinate with the design.
I decided to color this project with my Copic markers, and set of to color the image. I will list all of the colors I used for this image:
I started with her sweet face first. I used Copic markers: E000, E00, E11, R20.
Next, I colored her hair Y21, E31, E33, E35, E37.
I colored the floor with Copics E59, E25, E99, E33, E53-in that order, and then went on to blend it until it looked pleasing to the eye.
Next, I colored her shirt B00, and B02- this was a touch too blue, so I added G24 over the top. For the cat, I used C0, C2, C5, and C7
For the sentiment, I used Gray SU ink and overstamped the yarn with Soft Sky. The image and sentiment are outlined with bermuda Bay CS from SU.
I added Shimmerz in Angel Wings to her hair tie and to the yarn.

I hope you enjoy this sweet card. I want to share with you the story of the little girl I made this card for- maybe you will consider sending her a card as well?

http://scrapstampandbemerry.blogspot.com/2009/09/looking-for-some-help-please-ladies.html You could always send a card to her. Here's her address:

Go Green-Vintage

I wanted to make a card with my Copics- and found a challenge to use all green....now that is a challenge, isn't it? Why- maybe it is because of the Irish blood in my veins....... I used a FREE Background stamp from a Vintage Digital site
http://digitaltuesday.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
I just LOVE this image- I hope I did it justice! You cannot see in the picture the Sakura Gelly roll pen adding shimmer to the little circles in the medallion centers.
What do you think?

Torn Frames and SCS Featured Stamper Challenge

I had a little time to stamp Sunday, and joined in the Featured Stamper Challenge at Splitcoaststampers. The Featured Stamper this week is Stamp Muse, and here is her card that inspired me. I did not have a Patriotic Tilda, so chose to use Halloween as my theme- for the challenge, you are to change 3 things about the FS card. I used DP with a Halloween theme and colored Tilda using Copic Markers. I used a Torn Frame technique from a past TJ newsletter, which I liked with the Gooey punch I used in the middle of the card. I love the colors for Halloween and enjoyed making this card.

Thanks for looking,
Shelly

'Zig Zag' Whiff of Joy Birthday Mouse

My little GIRLY GIRL niece is turning 7 this month, so I decided to make a Girly Girl Birthday Card! I guess this could be considered a grid card for the Sweet Dreamers Blog group (from SCS)- it is called Zig Zag and it is from the latest Technique Junkies newsletter. The tutorial was written by Ann Clack- stampsandcars on SCS- one of my favorite stampers! Anyway, I also got out the Copic markers and went to town- this was just a riot to color-and to glitter. The BG is a piece of scrapbook paper from the dollar bin at Target I bought last Valentines Day. The image from Whiff of Joy is from an image swap on SCS and the Sentiment is from Mini Mates (Stampin Up-long retired).

Sweet Dreamers Blog Group Challenge # 3- grid

I am busy making ATC's for a Flourishes swap- and I decided to just make more so I can send some to Juliet A for the Technique Junkies ATC Technique Swap. (I made 18 of these in all). I join the TJ swap to get samples of techniques by others- and it is a nice way to see techniques I may or may not have tried. Deb Lovett put it nicely- the ATC cards are like having a little autograph book that other stampers sign- with their creativity (OK, not an exact quote.....).

Not an easy BG to photograph- more vibrant IRL....BG is Faux Sanding and the SU paper is retired Rose Romance-one of my all time favorite colors! I used the Scor Pal to make a grid around the outside edges, then took a Sakura Jelly Roll Pen and wrote over the scored line to get some sparkle. The Flourished Sweet Peas are colored with Copics RV00, R81, R83 (I cut out the 5 flowers and glued them over a black stamped image- am I crazy or what???) and I ended up using Green Galore to color in the greenery on the ATC. I added 5/8" sheer organdy in White to finish off the ATC. Now, to get them in the mail!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
