Floral Garden House Mouse

I am back in town and ready to create!  I have had a few trips since Holidays in COlorado- we visited Gulf Shores in February for 2 weeks, then I headed to Costa Rica with my daughter Katie.  I headed to Wisconsin for a craft retreat this past weekend.  No trips planned for a few weeks, so back at my craft desk!

The last release of House Mouse stamps included this fabulous Floral image- which made me think of my Mother.  Mom was a master gardener. She had a magical touch in the garden.  Me- I stayed in the house with my Kleenex- allergies!

The image was stamped using Memento ink, and colored using Copic markers. The die cut if from Gina Marie.  The embossing folder SU. How sweet is this image!

Challenge:

A made this card at the crafty retreat:

This image is stamped on watercolor paper and I water colored it.  It is for a friends brother who is dealing with cancer.

Alpha B=Bokeh

For round 15 of the Alpha challenge, we are on B this week- B=Bokeh.

There are so many ways to do Bokeh!  I used Distress Oxide inks on the background, and using the same colors, added circles of colors.  I made a stencil with a 3/8", 3/4" and a 1" circle punches. I added white Unicorn pigment ink last.
The cute House Mouse image is by Stampendous. The body/fur is colored using Copics.  The party hat and confetti are watercolored using the DOX inks used on the background.
The sentiment is by Colorado Craft Co. I added sequins and called it a day!

Riding the falling leaves......

I made a card using the bubble wrap technique for the Splitcoast Technique challenge.

I watercolored the House Mouse image with Distress Inks in the same colors I used on the background.  I have Distress Ink cubes with me, so dabbed them onto the bubble wrap then spritzed it with water, the laid the cardstock onto that.  Once dry, I lightly added more DI to the background.
The sentiment is by Graciellie Designs.

Challenges:
Try it on Tuesday- Autumn Colors
Tuesday Throwdown- Fall
House Mouse & Friends- AG
Incy Wincy- Animals

I'm Home!!!

I did not take any stamping supplies with me while away, so once I could sneak away, I did!  I checked into the SCS challenges for today and had fun!

The Splitcoast CAS challenge today was Get Well.  I have this sweet image that I stamped in the Netherlands with my friend Hetty. (Thanks Hetty).  I used a Gina Marie die and Copic Markers.

The Technique Lovers challenge was stamping on dark cardstock.  This card looks much prettier IRL, hard to photograph with all of the shimmer.....

I made a mask for the bottom, placed the top part of it over the card, stamped Versamark on the Not Quite Navy card, then added Stardust EP.  It took on the color of the card under it.
The tree in one image.  It was stamped in white Pigment Ink, then heat set and then Distress inks were colored onto the image with Distress markers. There is a subtle text in the trees. I varied the height.  The star and the snowflakes are from Stampendous.  I added Prismacolor pencil over the star and over the snowflake image to the larger flake.  I added white dots, then silver Stickles to the centers of the larger snowflake.  I decided to add clear Stickles to the star.
The sentiment goes with the tree set- i just heat embossed that with White EP.

Challenges:
Card 1-
Dare2BArtzy- Cute Animals
Challenge Up Your Life- Frame

Card 2:
Crafty Cardmakers- Sparkle
Addicted to Stamps and More- Holiday

We enjoyed a beautiful wedding in Sonoma California area- the weather was beautiful and the power was back on!  In the few free hours we had, we visited the ocean and the Armstrong National and State Park- which was a redwood forest.

Next, we headed to Colorado- Western slope- to visit our sonm DIL and our 5 month old grandson,

The baby is so happy and smiles and giggles too!  He was great and we had such a hard time leaving.  It was great seeing our son and DIL again too!

ATC-Alcohol Inks

For March, our ATC group had the theme Alcohol Inks

We start out with a 1-4-1 exchange we call a drop card.  Here is mine:

I ran a piece of acetate through the big shot and embossed it.  Then ,  I dropped Yellow and purple AI's on a it.  I added an Elizabeth Designs sticker on top.
I am going to enter this into the As You Like It challenge- what do you make besides cards?  I love to make ATC's- so fun to trade these little pieces of art- and fun to look through my binders for a jump start to my creativity!

The ATC I rec'd back for the 1-4- swap was done by Mary W

Mary also added AI's on acetate, then added metal tape around the edges.  There is a tag attached which has Mary's signature on it.

Here are my ATC's:
I stamped a floral image by Technique Junkies over the red dots- love the way these turned out!

and

( The one on the Right is still available for trade)

and
Technique Junkies floral over a plaid AI background on the Lt.
The Rt has a touch of Silver Metallic mixative, and then added the silver embossed spaceship from Stampendous.
and

The one on the Lt is available for trade.  I stamped a TH image, added a butterfly rub on and added German scrap.  The one on the Rt has a scrapbooking sticker on it- from Frantic Stamper.

one more!

On the Lt- the images are from Technique Junkies- this is available for trade.
On the Rt is an older SU image,

And, here are the ATC's I got in return:

Lt side- Diane S
Rt side- Harriet

I love this- Linda doodled over the AI's- she blew on the inks after they were dropped onto the cardstock.

Lt side in Linda O
Rt side- LuEllen

Mary added more acetate with AI's and put metallic tape on the edges- this one is backed so you cannot see through it like the drop card above.
Diane added the inks on by dripping- isn;t that a great effect?

Lt- Mary W
Rt - Diane M

Lt- Dee Dee added the AI on Vellum
Rt- Marcie ut foil over an ATC then embossed it.  Next, she colored in the flowers.

Lt side- Dee Dee
Rt- Marcie

The Smallest of the nesting squares was trimmed out for each square, and I watermarked with the image on the entire red background with Versamark.

Precious Friends

I am looking at some of my older stamps, and really am finding many that need to see ink : )

This is an older stamp by Stampendous from the Precious Moments line- called Friends. I stamped the image and colored with Copics.  I used the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday using DP from a few years ago by Prima. The cardstock is by SU.

Challenges:
Crafty Addicts- Use a Die Cut
Word Art Wednesday- AG
Die Cutting Divas- Die cut + Button
Marker Pop- Any Shape but Rectangle

I had to color another, and had to get some more pink in.....
This is retired older DP by Basic Grey- I love these colors.  More Copic coloring....  I love this sweet stamp : )  I have absolutely no clue where the sentiment is from. The sentiment and the scallop are all one. I colored the scallops in pinks and added shimmer using a Sakura Gelly Roll pen on the l ittlecircles.  Can you see the pink rhinestones in the upper Rt corner?  I used the Sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches for this card.

I have a sinus infection and lost my voice earlier this week. I had to work today, so spent yesterday on voice rest ( I normally talk lots... ).  So, I thought coloring would be a great way to keep myself occupied.

Challenges:
4 Crafty Chicks- ribbon
Simon Says Stamp- Thinking of You
Artistic Inspiration- AG + Feminine

COF: Celebrate the Men in your life

My SplitcoastStampers blogging group Carriers of Faith is a group of ladies that chat and papercraft, and have another common bond- we are all Christians. We have a monthly challenge and the 9th is our posting date- so here we go : )

June Challenge: Celebrate the Men in your life

I am hoping a side view will show off the sparkle......

Our Hostess for this Challenge is Paula.
Challenge: I want you to create a card or gift for your father or a male figure who has been influential in your Christian life. - I made this card for my Father.

Scripture: Psalm 23
The Lord is My Shepherd;
there is nothing I lack. 2.In green pastures you let me graze; to safe waters you lead me; 3You
restore my faith. You guide me along the right path for the sake of your name…4Even when I walk through a dark valley I fear no harm for you are at my side; Your rod and staff give me courage. 5You prepare a table before me as my enemies watch; You anoint my head with oil; My cup overflows. 6

Only goodness and love will pursue me all the days of my life; I will dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come.

Tell us why you chose this person or persons and how they played a part in your walk with Christ.
My Dad was about 3 months from vows to become a priest, and had serious doubts about this vocation, so he chose to remain a lay person, luckily for me : )  Anyway, he has a strong faith and worked really hard to pass that on to all of his 7 kids. To date, he remains a Spiritual Council for people at his Church. He spends alot of time learning and teaching others about faith and Christianity. With his limited vision (Macular Degeneration), much of his learning is done on TV and radio these days. He still tries to make daily mass with my Mother daily, and receive daily communion.

Other things that come to mind when I think of my Dad- Family, Sports, Cards, Cake (he makes fabulous cakes) and Popcorn. My Dad loves to laugh and pulls jokes on people frequently.

I made the background using a shimmery technique called Glimmer Mist Watercolors (April 2010) from the Technique Junkies newsletter.

The images are Stampendous. I colored the image with Copic Markers- too many to mention : ) The background uses Graphic and Yellow Glimmer Mist. The Daffodil yellow cardstock is SU, the black die is Cheery Lynn.

Michael Strong Friday Card of the Day

In the Michael Strong Yahoo Group, we have a weekly Card Captain - so we have daily inspiration.  This week, no one signed up, so we were able to sign up for just one day- so I am the Captain for today.

This set -Mini Cloisonne Shapes also has a set of matching dies. I used a number of TJ techniques to make this card- the background is Glimmer Mist Watercolor, I used Cascading images, the flowers are die cut from a UFO- an earlier technique I made a few extra's and did not note what I did.....and the Baker's twine is home made using a Copic and Pearl Cotton in White. The card is really shimmery IRL .
My colors are Glimmer Mist- Yellow Daisy and Blue Sky. I stamped the images on the BG in Yo Yo Yellow, Only Orange and Gable Green- I stamped off first so the colors would be subtle.  The images cut out with the die are stamped in black.

The sentiment is Stampendous circa 1998- embossed in black.

Michael Strong Card Captain days 2 and 3

In the Michael Strong Stamps Yahoo group, we have a card captain each week- so we have daily inspiration!  This is my first time doing this- and it is really a great way to get me motivated to stamp!
I posted Day 1 on Monday.....Here is Day 2:

I stamped the image in brown multiple times and used the coordinating die to cut it out.  I attached it to the Confetti cardstock base with adhesive, then I decided to sponge on some color using the used die onto the cardstock as well.  I then embossed it using a SU texture folder. I added a bit of brown ink to the edges of the card. The sentiment is Stampendous (1998) and I added brown Bakers Twine.

Day 3:
I could NOT get a good picture of this card at all.  I stamped the image onto Vellum using Versamark and embossed it with ranger Gold EP. I used a Blue Copic Spica Glitter Pen to color in the open areas. The ornament is layered on Black CS that has been spritzed with gold Glimmer Mist.   The gold organdy ribbon is gathered with a running stitch. I added blue gemstones to the ornament as well. One Christmas card down.........!
