1. Spin Big
So the album begins with Spin Big which was originally released as a digital single back in 2015 (literally like 8 years ago >.>). That said, I find its appearance to be quite random considering the other digital singles were released in the last year or so. It’s been so long since we’ve heard Kaori’s vocals, but considering that this was closer to her previous album, “Chasing Hope”, Spin Big feels more or less something like she would continue to release with a nice pop/acoustic sound. I do like the English in the chorus and the light-hearted vibes of the song is just what the album needed to start with.
2. Sekai
I think the album really kicks off with Sekai, the first of the new tracks off the album. It’s a bit more relaxed in its arranging style which is pleasant and kind of a bit more of an evening-like song this time around. Though I do feel that the connection between this and “Spin Big” is kind of fitting almost. Kaori’s vocals are just relaxed and the acoustic sound is relaxing. Not bad here.
3. Like a Tattoo
Next up is Kaori’s 4th digital single released prior to the album and Like a Tattoo is kind of a different mood versus the previous two tracks. I enjoy the kind of darker tone of the song and the addition of some synths added a nice amount of pop to the track. I like the change of pace and mood and Kaori sounds really pretty in the song. Great change-up for the album!
4. Takara Sagashi
Moving to the 2nd digital single released for the album (curious to why she left off both “We Belong” and the only physical single released before this album, which was also a fanclub single, “Heartbeat”), Takara Sagashi is kind of the more fluffy acoustic pop that I’ve become used to Kaori over the years. Anyways, yeah I’ve also noticed that like in “Sekai” there’s a twinge of a Country sound to it as well. To be honest though, this was a sleeper song, almost B-side like in nature as I kind of finding myself dozing off to this one. Kind of surprised it was a digital single. OK, but nothing I’ll remember post-album listening.
5. Bittersweet
Then we have a long line of new songs for the album starting with Bittersweet! I was quite surprised by the change of pace, moving away from the acoustics to more of a poppy vibe that kind of gives me some city pop tones throughout, which is kind of a weakness of mine currently. It’s a little 80’s but also a bit 90s as well and Kaori is just good at giving a chill vibe. It’s so far the most interesting track on the album as it pretty much gives the album a much needed curve to stand out a bit and Kaori’s music is always got surprises so this was a good one!
6. Control
Moving back to the acoustic, Michelle Branch-like sound that Kaori had a lot of similarities in the past, Control is kind of a safer sounding track for her. It’s kind of just there for me, but I do like the keyboard in the background and some of the electric guitar chords that come in during the choruses. Otherwise, I don’t think too much about this one as it’s kind of the typical-sounding BONNIE PINK song you’ve come to expect, almost a little YUI-like even?
7. Irish Coffee
Something a bit more jazzy comes our way with the next track, Irish Coffee and I was loving the vibe out of this one right out of the gate with just the pizzaz of vocal ability coming out of Kaori, being both chill, but also quick as shown in the verses. The light amount of synths and the heavy bass is kind of pretty neat and it just sounds so good here. I quite enjoyed this one a lot too, “Bittersweet” may be more exciting, but this one turned out soooo smooth!
8. Butter
I was definitely curious about this one since the last one titled butter was the big hit for BTS lol. Butter is kind of the more playful acoustic pop sound that Kaori also seems pretty comfortable. I kind of both like it and think it’s a bit more contrived versus a bunch of others because it has a punch, slightly minimalist vibe about it. I’m not sure what I think about this song really as it’s a bit busy, but it’s light-hearted and playful, but it’s just not really my cup of tea?
9. Waiting 4 U
Chilling out for the next song, Waiting 4 U is kind of the album’s mid-tempo ballad, but also still kind of has that acoustic vibe that’s a little similar to “Like a Tattoo” minus the synths. I think of this song in a way, similar to “Sekai” in where that it’s perfectly fine, but it’s just not sticking to me much for whatever reason that may be. I guess I do like the vocalwork in the song a bit more here, but really that’s all I could really say about this one.
10. Silent Film
I could say the same here that I did for the previous song to be honest, lol. The mood is a bit closer to “Like a Tattoo”, but I feel like the similarities are starting to blur my interest this late into the album sadly. The slight Country vibes from “Takara Sagashi” Yeah, this was another that kind of just flew by me without leaving much an impression otherwise.
11. HANABI Delight
As we inch closer to end, we have two more digital singles to tackle, the first is HANABI Delight which released back in July of this year (2023). This one took more of a lighter, happier sound like in “Spin Big” and it sounds just as uplifting as well. I do like this more than the last few tracks at least and it has a warm, summery vibe to it as well. It’s fine, but I think if there were a choice between the two poppy upbeat summer songs, “Spin Big” would be the one that wins (strange since both were digital singles that had PVs).
12. Elegy
Our 2nd to last track, Elegy was a digital single released back in 2022, and is actually primed as the album’s true ballad song here. Might not seem like that with the rolling snares in the beginning over the piano arrangement, but it is, trust me lol. I really don’t find myself intrerested in this one just one basis of ballads alone, but I do appreciate the addition of electric guitar in the later half of the song, that adds a little more color to the song. Not really a song for me, but I’m kind of surprised it wasn’t the final track to the album.
13. Infinity
Because the final track is also the title song as well! As a final track, I wasn’t expecting an acoustic track with some light ethereal elements thrown in before Kaori begins with ~It’s been 6 years since he died, since you were born…~ and that kind of sparked something that this was a little more deeper of a song for Kaori to pull out. Though I guess the lyrical content mixed with the arrangement seems a bit odd? It’s a very interesting song and I like the places it goes to throughout as well. It’s like “Butter”, but pulled off way better IMO.

Geeze, it’s been over 11 years since “Chasing Hope” (her last studio album), where has she been honestly. I don’t recall if she ever announced that she was taking a hiatus or anything (she had a Spin Big in 2015, a fanclub single and a digital single that wasn’t on this album in 2016, a best album in 2017, and then in 2022 became a bit more active with the 4 other digital singles. So much time has passed and I feel like Infinity is just more BONNIE PINK music. It’s a decent album, a few surprises here and there, but it’s still the acoustic urban contemporary sound that Kaori has been known for since her debut. Do I wish there was more oomph like stuff from “ONE”? Yeah, but considering the amount of time passed, I feel like this was more OK than anything else. At least she released a new album!?
