Overheard a nicely done cover on a street corner in Melaka over the long weekend. Posted vid is about as close as it gets.

The 2 week maiden trip to Cambodia had its moments. Also, got owned by sandflies 95-0. 50 scars to the right leg, and 45 to the left. I officially dislike sandflies with a vengeance now.
Had an individual riding lesson (1 to 1 with the instructor!) yesterday and I survived. Numerous attempts at canter and finally scored ONE breakthrough where she went into it, stayed on track, and slowed into trot when I asked her to. Albeit with lots of bit-moving and rein-checking before she agreed to it. Was grinning like an idiot at the end of the lesson! Other key learning points: Pacing, diagonals, circles. Still inconsistent!
Received word that I tested negative for MRSA. Nice to know.
Doing the pre-clinicals for MS was such. a. drag. I felt like an ADHD kid, doing anything and everything but focusing on the questions and getting it out of the way.
This week has passed by way too fast. As always, with holidays. I had the chance to just sit in a cafe with the netbook and a cuppa for 20 minutes and it felt heavenly.
Reformating the computer was a success. Now to teach my parents how to Skype before I leave for Perth!
Article here.
Last Saturday at RDA: A sidewalker gets the rider to focus his attention on an activity map for the day’s session, points authoritatively at it and tells the kid, “The BIBLE says ‘Go to Point A’.” He repeated the statement at least 3 times with much confidence before the bewilderment and disbelief on our faces got to him. In his defence, he had had only 3 hours of sleep the night before.
Sunday afternoon: I’m settled at my little picnic table with my notes scattered in piles about me. Richie is sleeping on my bed. Dad walks past and peeks in, and I hear him mutter to my mum a few minutes later, “That cat has the bed and she ends up on the floor”.
This morning on the train: I pull out my handwritten notes in a last desperate attempt to cram in concepts, conditions, and facts for the day’s exam paper. My attention drifts and soon I find myself thinking, “Wow… I do like my handwriting so!”. Major fail.
I am grateful and glad for girlfriends, and I thank God for that. You know who you are. :)
With no connection in any way to the photos that follow, what a delight it was to skip out of the hospital today with the in-service presentation behind me. And the iced coffee over lunch was good too. And… I successfully hustled a 91 year old lady (who’d totally refused to lift more than an arm yesterday) out of bed and into the chair, no pleas or resistance met whatsoever!

More gems here.

It was nice to just go down to town and browse the thai fair with mum. To get away from lit review writing. It felt deliciously illegal. Picked up a decorative arrangement of paper flowers and loofah cocoons tied to dried reeds for the vase that she wanted to fill. And 2 pairs of earrings. Glee.
Random shot above taken whilst homeward bound. Someone dropped their specs at the bus stop, and the sunlight coming from behind created an effect too pretty to ignore. I wonder what mum thought when I whipped out the camera to take 2 quick snaps just seconds before boarding the bus.
The floral arrangement is growing on me. Splashes of red against what seems like a backdrop of giant pussy willows. Photo the next time.
Finished the lit review that night with renewed fervour (Lesson of the day: Learn to go outside and play in between bouts of doing work). Oh what a relief it is that I don’t have to read a single research paper, even if it is just for today!
How apt a mantra to chant for year 3. A new take on the “cannot also must can” catchphrase.

Some fun parodies on it.
And then… create your own! (We should so totally turn it into a t-shirt and make a statement. Or two.)
