Final One….

There aren’t any sensibly priced Junghans clocks out there that are ripe for restoration, I purchased the last one about a week ago, all of the others are overpriced for their condition, £200 for a rusty clock with missing knobs is beyond taking the piss. That is only a little less than I will be looking to sell these restored ones for.

The last one that I bought had been badly butchered as well as the usual corrosion to deal with, the hanger had snapped at some point and the previous owner cut the case & the back to install a “D” Ring which looked awful & didn’t work well either.

So it will require some metal work to get it back to original & then it will be off for powder coating.

My Bay of E shelf is gradually clearing, the Junghans will go on Ebay in the next week or so.

UPDATE: Starting work on the case of the latest Junghans, I have unfolded the bent part of the case & shaped it to fit back where it originally was, I have also filed down the high spots and it is now ready for a bit of filler (probably liquid metal). With the back I have removed some of the excess material & what was left of the hanger, I have some 0.5mm mild steel on order, which will be folded & shaped to fit the hole that is left & remanufacture the hanger in the original place, once completed this will go for powder coating, this one will be beige and will be fitted with the brown clock face.

Just a little more work required before powder coating.

New knobs for the Junghans have arrived.

Ready for powder coating.

Now finished and on ebay

  1. Hi Paul,

Great restoration – I managed to pick one of these up for not too much with some missing knobs. I see you had some Junghans knobs made there. Do you have any that you could sell or put me in touch with the printer who made them for you so I can order some?
