Outside university time I volunteered at Literacy Pirates. Literacy Pirates is an enterprising charity working to develop literacy, confidence and perseverance of young people aged between 9-12. Each week I would volunteer for three hours with the young “Pirates”, helping them develop their reading and writing skills.
