Assistant General Counsel Jennifer Lovesy recently took part in two major running events in support of Orbis UK, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing avoidable blindness and restoring sight worldwide. From the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London to the Great Ethiopian Run in Addis Ababa, Jennifer pushed beyond her comfort zone to support a cause close to her heart. Learn more below. What inspired you to participate in these two runs? Jen: It was about embracing challenge, celebrating culture and supporting a cause that truly matters. Both events pushed me beyond my comfort zone, but they also connected me to a global running community and the incredible work of Orbis UK. Knowing that every mile I ran could help someone see the world more clearly gave these races a deeper meaning. The Royal Parks Half Marathon offered the chance to run through London’s iconic green spaces, while the Great Ethiopian Run was a vibrant celebration of community, culture, connection and resilience. Thank you to everyone who supported this journey, sponsored Orbis UK and helped raise awareness for this brilliant eye charity. 🌍👁️✨ How has your involvement in these runs impacted you personally and/or professionally? Jen: Personally, it pushed me to stay disciplined and embrace challenges with purpose. Professionally, it strengthened my ability to communicate, influence and lead—skills that matter every day in my role at FTI Consulting. Most importantly, it reminded me that even small efforts can make a big impact. What keeps you motivated during long runs? Jen: It’s a mix of mindset and meaning. Knowing I’m running for Orbis UK and helping to prevent avoidable blindness gives every mile a deeper significance. I break the distance into smaller goals and try to stay focused and positive. I remind myself how fortunate I am to have the ability to run and experience these incredible events, and I think of the kind and generous support from friends, family and colleagues. What is something most people don’t know about you? Jen: I met Haile Gebrselassie, the world’s greatest long-distance runner, at the pasta party the night before the Great Ethiopian Run, which was an honour and a privilege.
