Chanting that you support Hamas outside of a Jewish event in the heart of a Jewish community isn't protesting — it's antisemitism. This virulent hatred and intimidation — first outside of Park East Synagogue, and last night in Kew Gardens Hills — should be unequivocally condemned by all. The New York Jewish community has the fundamental right to peace and security. We continue to remain in close contact with law enforcement officials and our community partners in Queens. https://lnkd.in/eZfzajr6

When Ruthie walked into a pop-up Jewish bookstore in downtown Manhattan, she expected a quick stop. Instead, she found something much bigger – a space filled with Jewish community, pride, and history. For Ruthie and so many others, our Jewish bookstore pop-up, in partnership with Jewish Book Council and the Charles H. Revson Foundation, brought together hundreds of people to celebrate 100 years of Jewish storytelling with free books, author signings, and meaningful new connections. At a time when being Jewish can feel isolating, the bookstore became exactly what she needed – a space to be boldly and loudly Jewish. Since October 7, we have been providing mental health support to Nova festival and other festival survivors and their families, guided by the understanding that healing is a complex, ongoing process. The video created through this collaboration reflects a small part of our work and gives voice to our therapists, who often remain behind the scenes, yet carry deep emotional responsibility. Our sincere thanks to the UJA-Federation of New York and Israel Hayom ישראל היום for choosing to amplify this work and for their meaningful partnership 💚

"This organization isn’t just a ‘Safe Heart’ for the survivors – but also for me as a therapist.” After October 7, our partner SafeHeart nonprofit created spaces for Nova festival survivors and their families to heal through yoga and therapy. Israel Hayom ישראל היום shared how caregivers – often unsung heroes – carry their own trauma while continuing to help others, reminding us that healing is a shared journey.

While Israelis are grappling with the fallout of the war and years of internal strife, world Jewry is facing its own unique challenges. Eric Goldstein, CEO of UJA-Federation of New York, joined IDI President Yohanan (Johan) Plesner and Shlomit Ravitsky Tur-Paz, Director of IDI’s Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center for Shared Society, for a virtual conversation on post-war renewal, the rise of antisemitism, and the evolving relationship between the world's two largest Jewish communities. During the conversation, Goldstein described what the federation system refers to as “the surge” – a renewed rise in Jewish and Israel engagement among some Jewish Americans, and in parallel a countertrend moving in the opposite direction, especially among younger generations who are seeking less connection.
